The staff were excellent, friendly and professional. No problem was too big to solve. The Food (both breakfast and evening meal) were very good indeed. The bar was friendly and inexpensive and had a large TV to watch the football and Wimbledon tennis. The location, being close to the pier, and excellent shopping facilities, was top notch. Elevators/lifts went to all floors. My room had slightly peeling wallpaper, but considering that I was on the top floor and it was the hottest week since 1976 ( I.e. 35+ degrees Celsius) then I was not surprised. The supplied fan did help with the heat. My only surprise is that the hotel still uses keys to the rooms rather than electronic key cards, and the outside needed some re-painting. A little extra maintenance needed here and there.

Good value, friendly staff, rooms need upgrade. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good value for money. Very cheap price for a 1 night stay . Buffet breakfast was average but OK for £10. On site parking facilities were good. The room was large but the bed was small ( double) .Room was in need of some decoration. Shower didn't work.

A nice low-key hotel in an ideal central position. I would stay there again. Convenient location, parking was available. There was a lift to the 4th floor. We had a sea view, opposite the pier, lovely view. Good buffet breakfast, vegan and vegetarian choices. We stayed on one of the hottest days of the year, even with two fans the room was very hot. One of the room windows did not open and the bathroom window would not stay open.
The shower was the weakest I have ever used.

Good value for money in an ideal location Very clean and comfortable. Friendly staff. Excellent location. Decor is a bit tired and in the heatwave the room was hot ... though a fan was provided which helped.

Good location for the tennis. Great location for the tennis which we were going to.
Bed was comfortable.
Bathroom was tight, narrow and showroom screen not great leading to lots of water on the bathroom floor.
Curtains were not great but and did not blackout.

Nice Victorian hotel. Maybe a bit dated but comfortable and clean.
Breakfast buffet was excellent what you would expect were on offer and at £10 be hard to beat. Car park is on a first come basis first night I used a multi story but got in the next at £6 for 24 hours I would say ideal.

Low-key. I am sure that this building was once a fabulous hotel, but it definitely needs updating The staff were very helpful and friendly, particularly the bar staff! The whole place seems tired and could do with redecoration and updating. During such hot weather it was disappointing not to have air con in the room.

Cheap hotel, lacking amenities, but with great service. The staff here are brilliant. So friendly and helpful. The room, though basic, was clean and met our needs. With some investment this could be a truly lovely place to stay. The pricing was very fair for what was available, especially considering we were there for tennis week. The hotel is old, and very tired. No wi-fi and, critically as we stayed at the tail end of a heatwave, no air conditioning. The corridors were oppressively hot and although the room had a fan the only way to cool it was to open the windows wide overnight and let cool air in.

Very old property with character but in need of care and attention. Kept as clean as possible within the scope of its age. Staff friendly enough. Fabulous location with excellent views of the sea and pier. With rear entrance from the carpark.

Very convenient location for a reasonable price. My friend and I booked two single rooms. We had finished walking the South Downs Way. Very convenient location, perfectly reasonable size room and bathroom for a single room, sea view too. We ate our evening meal at the hotel as we had walked a long way... enough choice on the limited menu for us both to enjoy. We had an excellent breakfast too - obviously very popular with the guests. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. For the price, convenience and location it was a good choice. I think the hotel was in a transition phase of ownership. There was an odd system of having to pay for your dinner at reception beforehand but it was easily managed.
