Absolutely perfect if h9you can get a sea view room, other than that it is perfectly located footsteps away from the beach and 5 minutes walk into the town centre with lots of late night supermarkets and restaurants very close by. Basic but adequate rooms, cleaners work hard all day every day and the reception staff couldn't be more helpful if they tried. Great budget hotel if you are looking for a cheap getaway. Shop about for the price too.. I found Expedia to be the best 🌟

Nice, big and clean room but under my side of the bed there was one of those fragrance sprays, spraying stink every 15-20 minutes which woke me up in the middle of the night accompanied with sound of the running water from the storm outside which along with my husband we decided was coming straight into the room though the single glazed window.
Last but not least NO internet in the room.

Rooms are good sized and clean, but there's no wifi anywhere in the hotel, windows are single-glazed, and there's lots of noise coming in from outside and from adjacent rooms

I will not be pointing out that the hotel needs to be a bit more modern, because it is not and it is pointless. Our room was freshly painted, but carpet was old and dusty, maintained clean as much as possible. Room decent size, we asked for a change, because we were put in the back room with depressing view. The staff was amazing and they changed the room for us. There is always fresh towels and room cleaned if you wish, daily. The housekeeping lady is very good, does her job amazingly well. She is considerate as well. There is not much activities going on in the bar or restaurant now due to the remaining of covid rules. Room needs a fan on hot summer days. It can be easily done. There is also a room for a small fridge, which would be amazing to store water and other drinks. There is a good pressure shower, but taps in the wash basin need maintenance ( room 111). Overall, our stay was pleasant, we did not stay much in the hotel, only at night. Location is great- just opposite the Pier. I would come back within the same price range ( max £60 per night).

We stayed for a 3 night midweek break last minute decision but luckily enough we got a room. Room was large, well furnished and neat & clean. A large ensuite included as well as tea & coffee making facilities. The hotel is in a perfect location. Directly opposite the war memorial & pier. Literally 1 min walk! You have a large selection of restaurants, bar and a thriving town all within a few mins walk as well. All cuisines are catered for from all over the world. If you stayed for a week you could virtually dine in a different country every night. South downs & the seven sisters are a 10min drive, loads of retail parks & supermarkets within a short drive too. Eastbourne seems to be a thriving town, more so than a lot of seaside resorts. Overall a very enjoyable stay. Our only gripe were fairly noisy upstairs neighbours who were up at 6am every morning and the bed was too soft for our tastes but this is just our own preference and bed was in good condition.

Good place as its prices are really cheap. Good and flexible service all around. Very close to center and the sea.

Fairly cheap and cheerful in an excellent location. Dreadful shower though (very poor pressure) and our room was extremely dated decor wise with very thin walls. Friendly staff, so overall a positive experience but could have been slightly better.

The rooms are very basic with ill fitted windows and a pathetic shower. Beds were comfortable enough and there was tea and coffee in the rooms. About what you expect for £35 a night. The staff made up for the mediocre rooms. Very friendly and the beat full breakfast I've had in an age! Parking is limited in the roads around the hotel and you can buy a permit for £1 from the hotel. Again staff very helpful about this

Overall, another pleasant stay at the Afton. Clean room, comfy bed and the staff were warm snd welcoming, as always. The only downer was that I'd paid extra for a seaview which was pretty poor compared to the room we had last year at no extra cost and the view was lovely and the room was nicer. It hasn't put me off though and we are back in November to celebrate my birthday, just for one night and no seaview!

The room was clean but the decor was old and dated, although everything was in good condition.
Our room was on the 3rd floor where the water pressure was very poor and it was almost impossible to have a shower.
Wifi only available in bar.

Came here on a Wowcher deal so was great value for money. Warm and friendly place with great staff, we even had a sea view room. Slight problem with breakfast on day 2, but lovely waitress sorted it out. Well worth a stay as right next to the pier.

Great hotel clean throughout the whole hotel.
Room was a good size for 2 people, but window & a cable outside kept tapping in the wind.
Comfortable beds & clean bathroom.

This was our 4th year at afton, we use it for our Eastbourne golf trip. Staff are really helpful and polite and hotel has an easy going attitude. 18 of us can get a little boisterous before we go into town (which is on the doorstep ) but staff and guests alike are very friendly, would definitely recommend

Was greeted by a rendition of the cost of breakages or damages not to impressed, room was small but comfy , wi fi in public area only.
Not much else to say but the greeting of cost of damages and breakages was not how a hotel should welcome guests
Just to give people an idea of how we felt we are both in our 50s'

Reasonable value, let down by room being too warm. The room had an excellent view of the pier. Breakfast could improve as eggs overcooked on more than one occasion.
