I was understandably sceptical about the Early Break service when I was first told about it, as I thought it would just be another one of those pointless schemes set up which did not value their work or indeed take it seriously enough. This perception could not have been further from the truth, and throughout my time attending Early Break I have seen and noticed considerable change. My worker has been well selected as we have a shared range of interests and you could tell that there was much thought put into getting the right person for me. I have attended a varied amount of therapies which Early Break has put on which has relieved a considerable amount of distress, I now feel a lot more at one with myself and am beginning to challenge my anxieties by thinking positively, something which I would have never been able to do without the help of the Early Break service. In using the service I have learned to get to know myself, and have learned to take life more seriously, I see Early Break as a golden opportunity for people in a similar boat, and it is one which was needed to be grasped with both hands, my worker and I have discussed a plan of action which we have put in place to help me excel in areas which were once left untouched, my worker has helped me identify and work on both my strengths and weaknesses, and I seem to be doing this on a daily basis and to a standard which is acceptable to me, I am looking forward to a life without alcohol. Although I am still dreadfully anxious about the future and there is still a long way for me to go. I feel that my time using the service has been well spent and it has given me the building blocks I need to move forward. I can honestly say that without the existence of Early Break I would have never overcome my anxieties of starting college, which was essential for me as this would have left me in an inconceivable and untenable position, and this is something which I am indebted to. The hard work of all of the friendly staff is reflected on what I have achieved with them thus far. I would strongly recommend this service to anyone else struggling with alcohol misuse.

It is now over a year since I first attended the Dementia Café with my partner. Although I had heard about the café, for various reasons I put off going. When I did eventually pluck up the courage to go I realised how silly I was not to have gone earlier. Your café provides information, compassion, friendship, warmth and a shoulder to cry on. It is a joyful place where people with dementia and their carers can relax in a happy caring environment for two hours with you, your wonderful staff and volunteers. On entering the café one is met by lovely warm smiles from you and your team followed immediately by either tea or coffee and biscuits. Nothing is too much trouble for you. The talks and entertainment you provide for us are excellent and thanks to the talk by Health Call Home Opticians last month, I was able to get them to test his eyes – no easy job but they managed and now he is awaiting new spectacles. Recently you have been given a year’s funding to promote a friends sitting service for carers. I have been lucky to be one of the recipients of this service, which has teamed me up with a lovely lady. Now I am able to go out for three hours every month on a Thursday night. It is wonderful and knowing that he is in such good hands I leave with an easy mind. What I am really trying to say to you in this letter is well done for starting the Dementia Café where, for people like me and many other carers, it is a safe haven and a place of comfort where we can escape to for two hours away from our scary and unpredictable lives. As the café is going from strength to strength, I do hope the sitting service does the same as it is something else that makes life much more bearable for me and other carers like me. Once again I would like to say well done to you and your staff and all the volunteers. Many thanks from one grateful and appreciative carer.

My Grandfather was unfortunate to have to go in Bury Hospice towards the end of his life. They couldn't do enough to make his final days as pleasant as possible. Great staff, lovely building and the best you can ask for at a very sad time.

I met annabelles father at the bury expo last year . As I had never come across EDS I was intrigued to find out more information. After an informative and heartfelt explanation of the challenges annabelle has to face and the amazing work the charity does I was lost for words . Annabelle is a very lucky girl to have such supportive and wonderful parents. Excellent charity and effort for raising awareness of EDS .
