During the week 19th August 2015 to 23rd August 2015, the International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF see www.idbf.org) will be holding the 12th World Nations Championships for Dragon Boat racing. The event will be held in the Niagara region of Canada and will have participation from across the globe. Racing takes place primarily in 4 categories; Premier racers, Senior racers (over 40 years of age) Under 24s and Junior racers (under 18 years of age).
Great Britain will be represented at the World Championships in all categories. The British Dragon Boat Association (BDA) held a training camp for the GB Seniors at the St Neots Dragon Boat Team’s base, St Neots Rowing Club across the weekend of the 18th April.
44 year old St Ives based Gerard Baker, who is a paddler with the St Neots Dragon Boat Team was successful in winning an offer of a place in the final GB Seniors squad to go to Canada.
