Lovely place, gorgeous views, nice and cosy. Food all home cooked and delicious. Chef very accommodating and offered us the Christmas menu on a night they would not normally offer it. Very reasonably priced too. £16 for a 3 course meal better than many I have paid 30 quid for. Will definitely be back. My friend tells me the steak she has had here in a Tuesday was one of the best steaks she has ever had. Only down 1 star for me due to lack of ales in such a quaint, cosy pub, however, that is a personal choice and could not otherwise fault it.

Nice little pub in a lovely location on the canal .
The staff were great .It was clean and warm.
Good pricesWe had a Beef Sunday lunch.
Not good.It came swimming in thin gravy so much that I couldn’t eat it as it was spilling over the edge of the plate.
All the food was covered in it.The meat was ok.
But the roast veg was rock hard , couldn’t even cut into them. Not very enjoyable a real shame .
I really wanted to enjoy it and take all the family there for a Christmas meal.Disappointed

We booked a table for a family meal. 11 of us turned up, and were seated straight away.
There were a few teething problems, like a lack of certain dishes, and a total lack of deserts. Both of these bits of information were explained to us as we were seated. I believe a fridge had died earlier in the day, so I can accept that. The meals were ordered, and they all came at the same time, which is nice.
Food was good, tasty and hot, and I don't recall much left by anybody.
I would be perfectly happy to go back, and I would recommend this place to others. The food was good, venue is nice, and the staff helpful and courteous, without being overbearing.I have given a "very good" rating, but only because of the lack of deserts. I am confident it would have been 5, if deserts were as good as the main courses.

We came on a weekday as we had time off. When we got there at lunchtime there was nobody in apart from the chef and Barman so we had the pub to ourselves. We sat by the window along the canal. We ordered our food and within 10 minutes it was served. We couldnt fault anythin. The only part is that I like an ale or 2 and they had doom bar but it wasnt on.
Great place in a quiet area. It was the 1st time ive come here and I know ill be coming a few more times now

Bar guy very friendly and accommodating Food was good, lovely views across the canal and fields, halfway through the meal some guy at the bar became quite loud when trying to get his point of view over and his language was totally unacceptable but I spoke to the bar guy and he went and sorted it saying that he did not allow that sort of going on in a family environment and offered us a free bottle of wine to apologise he did not need to do this but insisted as he didn't want the experience to leave a sour taste. We shall certainly go again as its a very pleasing place, you can sit out on the deck and eat and take you dog with you, I would think on a summer evening it would be a great place to go to.

I visited The Fingerpost with 3 friends on a Saturday afternoon, it was a nice day and there are not many better places in the area to sit and have a drink. Situated on the canal it is out of the way enough to seem secluded but only a few minutes from the centre of Pelsall.

Lots of improvements have been made since the new menu has started.
We often eat here and have brought all the family and most of our friends!
The meals are tasty, and pretty big compared to their prices.
Only thing is, the menu could do with meat lasagne and curly fries!

The last time we had a meal here a while back it was pretty dire, but based on hearsay we gave it another try and there seems to have been a considerable improvement. The menu is not huge but it's better they keep it simple and know they can deal with it rather then try to be too ambitious and fail. We all got what we ordered and the food was good and hot, which was more that can be said about our previous visit! The young lad who served us was very pleasant and efficient and we shall definitely be coming back. The pub has a lovely setting, especially in the summer when you can sometimes sit outside, and it's a double bonus for us that they are happy to accommodate well behaved dogs in one section of the restaurant. We wish them well.

Beautiful Sunday lunch. Crispy roast potatoes, tender meat, gravy to die for. Even the dogs were given a couple of biscuits each. We love the staff in here, they always so friendly and accommodating.

Popped along with friends for a couple of beers, which were ok. We didn't have food but by looking at the menu it was a fair price.

called for an evening meal, upon arrival we were told that they were about to change menus so some meals were unavailable. we decided on soup with a bread roll. the soup arrived but no roll and butter when we asked they brought out burger buns that had just been defrosted. our main meals were all ok however when we had finished they never remove the plates from the table and were still on our table when we left. there was loud music which did not offend us however the bad language was a little offensive. The chef did attempt to keep the customers quiet. also we were not offered any desert. I am not sure if they did any?

Booked a table last minute for mothers day. Looked after my family when i could not be there due to work. Parents could not say enough how much they enjoyed it. Lady did say on the phone she would give them a seat with a view...they were seated in front of a wall? Strange thing to say perhaps a mix up but good feedback overall

Although very quiet when we arrived, great location (next to canal and nature reserve) meant we could take in the surroundings whilst waiting for our meal. Food was tasty, very plentiful and good value for money. Hosts were most welcoming and friendly. Would have no hesitation in returning.

Food is classic fare, nothing particularly inventive or new but what is on offer is hearty with good sized portions and seemed freshly cooked. Menu was sensibly priced albeit a bit short on dessert offerings.
Service was friendly and efficient, shame the pub was so quiet, didn't make for much atmosphere. However it was very tidy, clean and well presented, deserves to be busier really. I would go again.

A warm welcome with simple pub grub. Great value for money and cooked from fresh. Chicken and bacon club baguette and a cheese and bacon burger. Both with a generous portion of Chips and fresh cut crispy salad.
It's a shame we were the only ones there... locals ar missing a trick with this one! Nice family walk along the canal to work up an appetite or the other way round to walk it off!
Nice view of the canal. We will be back!
