At last an eatery that goes out of it's way to serve real, exciting food. Great hospitality without a hefty bill.

Passing by and popped in for some food and pints. Good selection of cask ales.
Friendly service, beautiful location.

Could imagine that decking overlooking the river will be amazing in the summer.

Really delicious food and lovely starters but I believe the longest wait I’ve ever had for food. It was such a shame apparently a chef rang in sick. Luckily we weren’t starving. Great location and everyone enjoyed the meal when it got to the table.
We will try it again but they need to considering the timings as the whole restaurant complained about the delays.

This place has had so many re-launches over the past couple of years we have almost lost count and given up on it, but we so hope that the current proprietors can keep it going as they have really made an effort with a warm and friendly welcome and an imaginative and innovative menu. My chicken chasseur was excellent and well presented, and the venison and beef pies looked delicious with plenty of meaty chunks and 'proper' pastry, as against that ubiquitous 'puffy stuff' which floats on the top of the dish and disintegrates when you cut into it! The steak was pronounced very good indeed, and another interesting alternative on the menu is a selection of three small plates for £12 which I might try next time (and there will certainly be a next time) For those interested, there is a dog-friendly area and,of course, the re-furbished deck over-looking the canal in the summer.
The only reason I have not given it 5 stars is that we still think it could benefit from a slightly better ambience. Maybe a few candles or night-lights in jars on the tables, chequered table-cloths maybe, and perhaps some brighter pictures or posters on the walls would give it a bit more atmosphere - it still all seems a bit on the drab side.Overall, however, a vast improvement and we wish them well for the future in building up a regular clientele.

Called in today, looking for somewhere dog friendly with good food,,on our last visit the place was really rundown and shoddy, but the new owner's have really turned it around!
Lovely interior, all overhauled and spotless. Brilliant menu, alternative dishes and classics and everything cooked to order so beautifully fresh!
Our meals were delicious and the staff go above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. Give this place a try, it has certainly had a much needed and top notch turn around, good luck to the new owner's, you've certainly got it spot on.....what a massive improvement!
Ps ....Lottie says thankyou for the the dog treats!

We were looking for somewhere to new to eat and decided to try this place for lunch. My wife had the steak and I tried the small plate menu. Three plates for 12 quid. Squid, belly pork and Falafel were my three choices. It was all delicious and well presented. The steak was succulent and tasty. Friendly staff made it a worth while visit. The toilets were clean and tidy. Overall a good place to eat. We will be returning soon to try other fayre off the menu. Keep up this standard please.

Wanted to try somewhere we had never been, passed this place... So glad we pulled in... The guy behind the bar was fab, and very welcoming! 😀 We sat outside with the water edge view. We all decided to have the burgers, presentation was Brill, tasted amazing with the bacon jam 😋 will definitely go back and try the Sunday Lunch

Thought we would try this again as it’s had a change of management.
Nice friendly pub although needed the tables cleaning , sticky .Ordered food and drinks .
Drinks came , we waited for food and waited and waited .When it finally arrive it was nice I thought a small meal for Sunday lunch .
No serviettes on the table .We had ordered a dessert which again we waited ages for .
The food was nice but the service was poor and so slow .And the loud music annoying for a Sunday afternoon .
Don’t think we will be trying it again .Shame as it’s a lovely place in a great position.
