My Husband and I chose the Allerford for as our wedding reception venue.

From the start Tom and the other staff at the Allerford were fabulous! Tom made sure we had everything we wanted and helped us to stick within our tight budget! I always felt like Tom and the team were there to discuss or help us with anything in the run up to the day.

As for the day itself, it was perfect! It was exactly the atmosphere I wanted, relaxed and cosy! The food was incredible, the drink prices are very reasonable, they are not increased just for the day of the event, which venues have a habbit of doing!

Tom and the team made my new Husband and I feel relaxed from start to finish, I am so pleased we chose the Allerford!!

Visit regularly as we are always warmly welcomed. We enjoy an early evening meal or just pop in for a couple of drinks. Have also enjoyed a wonderful Sunday lunch carvery. Worth a visit...you won't be disappointed.

We have recently been to the Allerford inn a few times and have always had a warm welcome and extremely yummy food! It's family friendly, and we always have a relaxed enjoyable time. Last night we went for New Year's Eve, the children thoroughly enjoyed them selves as did myself and husband, the disco was brilliant and the buffet good was fabulous, so much to choose from and all very tasty. I would also like to mention that I had a 10 day old baby with me which I needed to feed, they could see I was trying to find somewhere a little quieter to feed my son and kindly offered there office, which I thought was extremely kind of them! This gave me a chance to settle and feed my son whilst the kids were enjoying the disco. I highly recommend it! X

We ate here for Xmas dinner this year after deciding to try something different. The whole experience was a pleasure. We arrived and were greeted with canapés and drinks the guided to our table. There was no rush for the table. They only allocate 1 table to one family so you have as long as you want. The food was amazing. Starters, sorbet, Carvery and desert all perfect. Couldn't fault any of it. The staff were attentive and made our Xmas meal and day out special. A huge thanks to all the staff and people at the Allerford Inn who made our day.

Thoroughly enjoyable Christmas lunch experience.
Nice greeting on arrival with Bucks Fizz and canapés. From there we were directed to our table (2). The little extra touches on the table also added to a pleasant ambience. Food was fabulous from start to finish - well presented and very tasty. Although I wouldn't dream of taking leftovers home, as some diners did ! Service was, on the whole, very good, although seemed to slow slightly nearing the final courses, but it didn't detract from the whole experience. Would like to thank Tom and Tim and all staff including our waitress Catherine who made it such a pleasant Christmas Day lunch. Well done !

The Sunday carvery is a firm family favourite for us all, grandparents and children alike. Good quality food, friendly service and a lovely setting. The desserts are amazing!
To make it truly perfect, a small sized kids play area would be great, especially in summer (but I'm just being very picky)

I've periodically posted about the Allerford and it just gets better and better.
I know it's not on a main road but it is an incredible asset for the area and well worth any small effort it takes to get there. Local people really need to get behind it and support it.
The menu continues to have a good range to choose from whilst still being home-cooked and great quality, which is a welcome change to those places that have enormous menus that offer everything under the sun, all of which is pre-packed and microwaved.
The team have now really bedded in and are fantastic and the atmosphere is always good. The recent addition of two log burners really adds to this now the nights have drawn in and the cold weather is with us.
Make the effort and visit, you certainly won't be disappointed!

Attended for a birthday meal with my boyfriend. Lovely interior design and appeared to have well spaced tables. Nice music to add to atmosphere in the background also. Greeted, served drinks at the bar and given menus before sitting at our table. Well presented menus on wooden engraved clipboards which was a nice touch. Varied choice of mains. I had the Allerford Chicken and my boyfriend had the Salmon en croute. Both very nice meals served with different veg and chips. Overall very nice visit and would recommend and visit again. Only thing that could have lifted atmosphere would have been for the front of house staff to be more chatty and engaging, however they performed the main areas of their job to a good standard.

A surprisingly big place but still cozy and modern. Some good ales and wine. Food selection is reasonable and is of excellent quality, quantity and presentation. Dog friendly too - it was quiet when we visited and we were even given some biscuits and water for the dog. Would highly recommend

Where do we start?!
Well, as soon as we started discussing wedding reception ideas, my now husband and I had no hesitations in discussing The Allerford. It would be the ideal venue for what we were envisaging for our day. It's relaxed, does great food, plenty of outside space for the kids to let of steam, and most importantly serves great cider ;-)
From the very start of our planning Tom was at hand and helped us put together a package that encapsulated our likes from the welcome drinks, right through to the evening buffet. Nothing was too much to ask, Tom even helped us source the most amazing band to play our evening reception.
We truly had the most amazing, memorable day with all our friends and families saying likewise, the quality of food served was second to none, Tom and his team truly did us proud!

Thank-you to Tom and his fabulous staff team, we will most definitely be back, time and time again

On our 40th Anniversary booked Sunday lunch here - never been before but reviews seemed positive. Arrived at a 'holiday camp' with very young toddlers running and screaming everywhere, we were plonked in the middle of the dining room surrounded by them all - I had said it was an anniversary meal when I booked so had hopes for a decent table. Food not bad although put off it as the person in front had her hair dangling all over the meat and yorkshires (low carvery stand). Terrible atmosphere just ate the lunch and went home for pudding and coffee - very disappointed as you only have a 40th once in a lifetime (hopefully) - had to queue to find out what the 'form' was, bar staff not particularly friendly or helpful - they gave us a ticket stub each and told us to go to the carvery. We were left to get on with it needless to say, won't be going back there and atmosphere is awful unless you like toddlers hurling themselves around while you eat!

Visit in The Allerford Inn was very spontaneous. We turned up on here because the other pub we arrived in had so bad reviews I didn't want to take chances to ruin my Sunday!

So I decided to go somewhere close with really good reviews. And I choose The Allerford Inn.

Good decision!

Firstly- big carpark

The Allerford Inn is very big.
With different style looking dining rooms. Bright. Garden. Patio area, clean, friendly staff, did not appear very often but asked if we need anything and if everything is OK.

See pictures.
We ordered beef burger 🍔- very tasty!
And chicken wrapped in baking filled with sun dried tomatoes...asparagus, salad, triple cooked chunky chips 🍟 were awesome!
Crunchy outside and fluffy inside! Heaven! 😂

So thankfully to honest TripAdvisor reviewers I have saved myself great disappointed and instead I had great tasty meal!

Thank you all who leave constructive feedback!

I will definitely come back here!

Thanks

Sunday carvery with a vegetarian in tow..never easy. But here we had a gorgeous carvery and my wife was able to have a nut roast with vegetarian gravy and then was able to add all the glorious veg on offer. The carvery chef changed his gloves before serving the vegetarian meal because he had been handling meat. Fantastic.

The bar service was efficient and the staff very pleasant and helpful.

The Inn is in a lovely country setting but just 10 mins drive from Taunton.

Highly recommended. I will be going again very soon

We have been to the Allerford Inn several times now, and for the carvery. Both times were excellent even when busy.... The food was really good and priced well and there was a very good selection of real ales at the bar. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the service always very good.
I would definitely recommend a trip or two to the Allerford Inn.....pity its not our village pub & to walk to easily .........
