The lady on the phone could not have been more helpful when booking.
However service on the day was dreadful. We waited well over an hour for our main courses after the starter had been cleared away. Nothing was said until we eventually queried the delay. Then we were told " we are very busy". To their credit they did discount the bill at my request, but with a small child and a 90 year old, such a long wait without explanation is unacceptable. Food was nice, had better, had worse. Good menu choice and very willing to accommodate special dietary requests with notice.

We had another lovely meal at the Allerford Inn, our favourite restaurant in Taunton. Great service from Bradley, well done.

Enjoyed a superb meal at the Allerford last night with my family. 2 of us had lamb rump and one had pork tenderloin. All were cooked and presented superbly. We always enjoy our food when visiting the Allerford but this was a definite step up from "pub grub".

Friendly staff and quick service. The food is no great shakes - roast beef was cooked to death and dry as a stick - but there's plenty of it.

Outdoor space is good when the sun's shining - lots of room for kids to run about in. Not too expensive either.

Another lovely meal at the Allerford Inn, great attention to detail and happy friendly staff. Freshly cooked "real" burgers.

It's been year's and year's since I've been in this pub, it used to be called the Victory when I was a yoof, I grew up locally and we used to do a lot of serious under age drinking at this establishment back in the 70's. Anyway! Enough of the old nostalgia. The Allerford inn is a far cry from the the grim drinking den of yesteryear. It's now a very smart, clean and comfortable establishment with excellent wheelchair access to all parts of the building, quite large, with a conservatory, great beer garden all set in the lovely Zomerzet countryside. Although they have a main line menu I think it would be fair to say that they specialise in carvery, particularly on a Sunday. We were a party of 5 for lunch on Sunday, we all had the roast. Choise of turkey, beef and pork, all very good, plenty of vegetables, dauphinoise potatoes were excellent, unfortunately the roast potatoes were a bit soggy, but hey ho! staff were good also. Would definitely return and recommend.

Our first Sunday Carvery at The Allerford but won't be the last, we loved it, usual choice of meats and a wide choice of vegetables, especially loved the Dauphinois Potatoes. Thank you

We have always had a good meal at the Allerford, the food and service is always great, the new additional menu last night gave us new choices, the pork tenderloin in brandy, cream and mushroom sauce was melt in the mouth tender and so much of it. My husband had the lamb rump which was cooked perfectly. The dessert menu is always tempting, my husband had the cheesecake of the week which was Jaffa cake and really enjoyed it. The beer and cider is always good, it's now become our destination of choice whenever we want good British pub food.

Visited last night with 17 other Ramblers, following an evening walk.
Some meals were said to be good, some average and some poor.
I had cod and chips ( £10.95), but was very disappointed. Chips were good, batter on fish was excellent, but unfortunately the fish inside the batter was very small and under cooked. I cut 2" into the fish before I found any and another 2", before finding anything of substance. My wife had scampi (£11.95) and said it was ok, but she had eaten much better.
We used this pub many times in the past, before it closed following flooding, and had always been well looked after and enjoyed our food. Now, although well received, with increased prices, expected at least as good food, but were disappointed.
As this may have been a one off, we will probably try once more, before writing off.

The attention to detail, organisation and layout for our AGM and subsequent Committee meeting was excellent. The superb food arrived at exactly the time requested thus ensuring no disruption to our agenda. I can therefore highly recommend The Allerford Inn.

Made up our minds to go here on the hop. Have been here a few times as a lot of lovely refurbishments have been done with great improvements from how it was years ago. Food was good as usual but staff didn't appear to be so friendly as in the past, maybe an off day!!!

Visited this pub today unfortunately, there was no gravy!!!! No parsnips. Gravy is a a must for a carvey. The waitress collected our empty plates and asked if everything was ok we explained to her the lack of gravy and she did apologise. This is the second time we have visited this pub and had carvery. The first occasion we visited was excellent that is why we returned. We would give it another try.

Went here with friends on a Saturday evening and were surprised the restaurant was very quiet
This is a shame as the owners have invested in getting the premises looking very nice with a modern feel
The food was very nice and plentiful the only gripe I have is when ordering a tagliatelle dish I specifically stated no mushrooms as I am allergic only to find when it arrives it has mushrooms in it. This is a major concern as had I not been vigilant then I could easily started to eat this with some pretty serious results
I regard this as a major failing and a dangerous one when I had ensured the waitress knew my needs
Clearly there is a lack of attention in the kitchens
But having said that when it was replaced it was nice and tasty but it spoilt total enjoyment as I was sifting through it making sure no similar mistake had been made again
When it is a medical issue then there should have been more care taken
I would eat there again but I would also be worried that my dietary needs are not taken seriously
Good customer service should have made an offer of a free drink or desert as it was a major problem but alas no such standards
It deserves to be used more but........

Obviously busy because it was Easter Sunday, but we booked a few weeks ago. Lovely atmosphere and the staff were pleasant and obliging. The carvery was very nice with a good selection of vegetables and three meats. Hard to choose a pudding as they all looked gorgeous, but eventually settled on the Nutella Sundae, delicious. There were 15 in our group which included 8 children, I would have liked the desserts to come out in the order they were given to the waitress however, because despite being the first to order for my family only three desserts came out and the last dessert, ice cream, was served once the rest of the group had theirs, but in fairness didn't detract from a lovely meal and I look forward to returning.

Just had a really good lunch at the Allerford Inn. Traditional, home - cooked food that we all really enjoyed. Reasonably priced too. Very pleasant, helpful staff. We will definitely go back.
Lots of room indoors and out and family and dog friendly. Very tasteful decor and immaculate loos!

Me and my partner had never been to the Allerford inn before so we gave it a go on the recommendations from TripAdvisor .

The pub it's self was easy to find and in a nice quiet part of the country side which is always nice as it gets you away from the huddle and bustle of the city's around .

I had the roast beef and horseradish baguette which when I saw it was pretty big . It had the right amount of beef inside the nice ciabatta long role with a pot of horseradish so you can put how much you want it . On the side was a portion of tortilla chips and salad which was a nice little touch . My partner had order the Brie and bacon baguette and she loved it And said she would defiantly be having again when we next visit . We both ordered a portion of chips each which was to much really as the portion of chips was big enough for us both to share but having not been before we thought why it .

All in all the food was great the service was very good and we can not wait to return to try something else on the menu.

We have been out the uk for a number of months. We met friends here for a bit of a catch up. Never lets us down, great food and service. There was a party on in the big room so the atmosphere was busy, but added to what was a great evening. Well price and good quality. Love it.

This is a lively place and looks to be good for families. Unfortunately our carvery meals were not very hot and I for one wasn't overly impressed with my meal. From what I've read in other reviews it was, perhaps, not a very good day for the carvery. I can say however that the staff were all politeness and very helpful.

At 12.30pm the restaurant carver was already fully booked but, we were able to order off the main menu. I shared a steak pie with chips, peas and gravy and ate outside on one of the wooden tables. The food was passable but nothing spectacular.

The Otter ale I had was nice. The staff were friendly and attentive and the food arrived quickly. Food prices from the main menu are a little steep for a local rural pub for what was provided but, the carver would have been only £9.95

I would recommend this pub to others but suggest for Sunday lunch, book early.

We eat at The Allerford often on a Sunday and the carvery has always been extremely good. Mother's Day lunch was once again excellent and very good value for money with 'Mum' having a complementary glass of prosecco. This was a lovely idea. The staff are always very helpful and friendly and the place is always clean and cosy. We will definitely be back soon!

This place has become favolite of my family. Normally quiet and cozy restaurant in a middle of nowhere. Food quality is up to satisfactory level and clean&proper serving. So far this place had not missed a beat. Please keep up with good work and looking for next visit.

This is our 3rd visit to the Allerford Inn and it was yet again excellent. It's very tastefully decorated, ample parking, staff are welcoming and friendly and the food is lovely. The extra touches in presentation such as condiments served in small kilner jars really sets this place apart from its competitors.
