Fighting - the fun (and legal) way

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is one of the fastest growing sports in the world. And here in Shropshire we already have a range of martial arts clubs to choose from that cater for MMA competition. From Oswestry Freefighters to Bai Lang in Telford and now there's a new MMA club right here in Shrewsbury!

Spartan MMA is the brainchild of MMA competitors Andy Molyneux and Doug Wildman. Both well-known on the Shropshire martial arts scene, they set Spartan up whilst preparing for representing England at the 2009 MMA European Championships. Yes, they are very busy men!

With a 'no ego' and 'no politics' policy, 41 people turned up for the very first Spartan MMA class on July 6th! Held in the London Road Sports Centre, Andy and Doug taught a number of drills and techniques, taking the best from Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, Kickboxing and Submission Grappling. It's all good fun and great for fitness and self defence. So you don't have to enter cage fights or anything like that! But for those wishing to compete, Spartan MMA do have specific Team Spartn training too.

If you're aged 16+ and fancy giving it a go, why not call Andy and Doug? Students train to their own abilities and limits and it's all friendly, good fun. Shrewsbury MMA classes are Monday and Friday 8pm to 9pm. Spartan MMA works closely with Oswestry Freefighters, with both students and instructors crossing both.
