As a taxi driver who covers a lot of miles, this was the 3rd claim of someone driving into me, and this 3rd one, was one of the worst moments of my life. I did return to Howden after my second accident for my Taxi insurance after comparing the way the 2 accidents were dealt with, and i had a far better experience, and got a lot more help with Howdens. Now my latest accident, I really felt Christine went above and beyond. She got back to me, when she said she would, she took the time to explain everything, and didn’t mind going over it again if needed. She was very thorough especially with policy wording, and actually scrutinised the underwriter and saved me a few thousand pounds in loses, as it was a 9 week old vehicle, and was hit by an uninsured driver.
In this day age, it’s so easy to go on line and shop about to save a few pounds, but you'll never truly know how good your insurance company are, until you need them. Obviously price is important, i could have saved around £60 , which is only about 3% of my premium by going elsewhere, and I believe that £60 has paid back thousands. Do a bit of homework on your insurance company, and ask, is it worth it, Howdens definitely was for me, and Christine did fight my corner, even when i had accepted my losses.

Rang Howdens as I needed contents insurance. My call was dealt with by Catherine Smith in the Tooting office. Catherine was brilliant, she researched the market and suggested a policy which was exactly what I needed. She talked me through the details and answered all if my questions. I needed to make notes during our conversation which can take a bit of extra time but i didnt feel Catherine was irritated by this and she gave me time to do so. At no time did I feel rushed in any way to make a decision. I found Catherine friendly, professional and someone who made the whole process as stress free as possible. I only hope she is still in post next year when the policy comes up for renewal. Would definitely recommend Howdens.

I found the process of switching insurance to Howdens very easy, informative and not in the least pushy, and the premium was good. Very friendly agent.
One small issue followed. I had explained that I had one claim in 45 years of driving and that was a pigeon flying in to a very expensive headlamp in 2023. After setting everything up and paying the premium I got a call a couple of days later saying that I had not declared it and therefor the premium would be higher. I was a bit annoyed by this and insisted that I had declared it. The agent listened to a recording of the initial call and called me back to say he had heard me giving that information. The policy was amended to reflect this and as a gesture of goodwill the additional premium was waived. All dealt with in a friendly and professional way.

Needed commercial vehicle insurance for my modified pick-up and was recommended to try Howden. Spoke to Jason Baker at Whitney and he made the entire process easy and friendly.
