I actually spoke to someone in person who set up the policy over the phone and was very thorough, asking questions that are relevant to my insurance and online insurers just don't ask, and possibly wouldn't be insured for. Very helpful and informative.

I've just re-newed my home contents policy with Howdens, they sent me a reminder & quote for renewal in plenty of time for me to look around if I so wished, to be honest I could probably have go it a bit cheaper but would I have got the service I received from Howdens, I doubt it...I spoke to Karen DeVito who was friendly, helpful & professional, she answered all my questions & actually listen to what I had to say. I also have my car & travel insurance with them.

Howdens (and a young lady in particular) had my back throughout a tortuous process with my insurer. Three times the car had to go back to their 'approved repairer', a company that wouldn't know quality control if it hit them in the head. An inspector from the insurance company had to get involved, but his hands are obviously tied to a large extent.
Throughout all the backwards and forwards, made worse because we went abroad, Howdens were great, constantly phoning the insurer, checking in with me and generally looking after me. That's what I call fantastic customer service. That's why I keep using Howdens!
