I have been with A-Plan for my kit car insurance for many years. I have renewed this year, but not without some frustration and having to deal with an agent who was not as pleasant as usual, in fact bordering on argumentative. I received an email from A Plan about a month before my renewal date, saying they would be in touch, but I could advise of any changes beforehand. This year, I did have some, so I replied to the email, before going on a 10 day trip in my car, in the Highlands.

When I get back, my renewal paperwork is on the mat, with none of the changes. I rang and spoke to an agent, who initially tried to imply I must have send the email to a "no-reply" address. Not the case. He then told me that all changes have to be discussed over the phone as the policy is a "verbal contract" (I think most people - including an underwriter - expect to have a written policy, schedule and certificate!), and that they have to speak to a customer to make sure it's really them, they can't accept emails. How would they know it's me on the phone! And how do other companies who sell through comparison sites without speaking to you manage? Instead of wanting the changed details, he then started to go through everything, even when I asked if he was going to do that and said he wouldn't. Although, ironically, the one thing he missed was an item that I needed to advise a change on.

When I first insured through A Plan the refreshing thing was the way they dealt with the every tricky question in relation to kit cars, "has it been modified". The first time I was asked this, the agent laughed herself at the absurdity of this question in relation to what is essentially a one off custom build by a man in a shed on every occasion. On this occasion, the question was serious. I will probably look elsewhere next year. My feeling is that A Plan no longer understand kit cars, and I was not impressed by the attitude of the agent on this occasion.

I have recently renewed my car insurance once again with A-Plan Insurance. This time I did it quickly and efficiently over the telephone which was a relief in these Covid times. I usually go into branch. All the staff I come into contact with there are professional, personable and pleasant. An excellent service all round and I am sure I would not find anything better elsewhere.

After a stressful experience trying to change my address to a temporary address from my other insurers which then changed my premium to a ridiculous price with them. I had to look for a another quote. Funnily enough aplan sent a news letter to me so I gave them a call. Spoke to a guy call John F there he was awesome understood the stress I was in and sorted it all out for me. Was with Aplan for 2 years before should have just stayed with them. John knew what he was taking about and just thanks again for helping out.

I had a very good service. I have been well listened and my needs were met. The lady that attended me has a very good understanding of her job. She has a very good maner and explains clearly all aspects with patience.
