First a phone call to the Solihull office with a man called Richard who was really helpful. Then a visit to the office in Solihull to get my documents as my printer was not working and again the girl who helped me was really nice.

As I changed my car for a higher group car I was very pleased with the quote for the yearly policy was around about the same so was very pleased to insure with Howdens again. Plus when i need to contact the Gloucester office they are all polite and friendly and helpful

I felt that it was time to change my car insurance even though I have no recollection of ever making a previous claim.
I searched the internet and chose Howden.
They were extremely helpful on the phone, particularly when I asked them to explain or repeat items.
I have insured through them for one year but the real review would be if I ever make a claim, although I expect they would be just as helpful then.
The price was, to my mind, very reasonable.

Renewal date 24 July. The renewal letter said I did not need to do anything if I was happy with the quotes. The policy would automatically renew. I was happy so I did not respond. Upon checking my credit card statement three weeks later, I noticed that nothing had been paid to Howden's for this insurance cover. I phoned Howdens 17 August and spoke to someone who insisted that I should have responded with a phone call. Things got a bit heated so I curtailed the call. I then rang again and spoke to someone else who confirmed that an error had been made by Howdens and my policy should have renewed automatically. I then had to go through the whole procedure of setting up a policy - very frustrating and very worrying. My home and contents had not had insurance cover for just over 3 weeks. Still waiting for the paper copies I asked for!
