I tried for two months to get a quote for a new car (GLC300e, that replaced a very similar car GLC250d) but had to wait until the new car was ready for delivery, with the registration number. The quote was twice that of the previous vehicle. In addition I was told the new car needed a Thatcham Tracker and that it was too late to fit it to the car before delivery.
I arranged to have the tracker fitted after the car was delivered, but was told by the underwriters that I would not be insured for theft until the tracker was fitted, which it was - two days after delivery.
Not good to have an uninsured £60k car in my locked garage for two days.
