This is a very picturesque Cathedral inside and out. My choir and I had the opportunity to sing in this building for a week. The front with relief is stunning. The Catgedral is worth visiting.

I'm not an overly religious person, but do love to visit churches of all kinds. Not only for the contents, architecture and history but the wellbeing I get from being close to something unexplained. I have no problem with a donation and will always give something, but when faced with a entrance fee I am immediately deflated and feel these places have become a side show and not a place for spiritual contemplating. Fortunately this is not one of them, you can give what you want or can afford, no pressure applied.

It's a lovely place but you don't pay in but that makes you feel guilty so you end up putting a donation in box that have tills as you enter and at the end theirs a shop, but it's a beautiful cathedral

We did the towers tour (£18) per head which I thought was steep but TBF it was worth it. We were quite lucky cos there was only the 3 of us and we got 2 guides to ourselves - both of whom were incredibly knowledgeable. Great views and even though I hate heights it wasn't too bad. All very interesting. Recommended.

I always love visiting this wonderful cathederal. A splendid example of architecture and as you enter the close, an awesome sight. The interior is wonderful. We brought a friend from overseas who could not speak highly enough of it.

A beautiful peaceful place. It was an impromptu visit and we were pleasantly surprised that the cathedral had a trail for children to follow around the cathedral. It was nice to be welcomed with young children who enjoyed searching for people and animals along the trail whilst admiring the architecture and learning more about characters from the bible.

Lichfield Cathedral truly is a hidden gem. Although it’s only a short drive from the M6 motorway, it’s like stepping back in time. The cathedral itself has a grandeur to it which is unlike many other, smaller, more modern cathedrals. The outside of the cathedral is beautifully designed, in proportion, and well appointed with a variety of statues. The West door is huge and impressive with a variety of ornate Victorian carvings outside. Once you enter the cathedral, the visitors’ desk is staffed by polite and helpful members of staff who will guide you around the cathedral. The ceiling of the nave is particularly impressive and the grand arches are second to none in the UK. The stained glass throughout the cathedral is particularly impressive. However, when you get to the far east end of the cathedral, you will see the Herkenrode glass which is unlike anything you will see in any other cathedral in the UK. There were several treasures contained within the chapter house, such as the Saint Chad Gospel which make this cathedral a real pleasure to walk around and visit. There is parking nearby in Bird Street car park and the public toilets are easily accessed. The Minster Pool next door is also worth a visit to feed the ducks. Although Lichfield is not on the usual tourist trail, it is worth a detour. I can’t recommend this cathedral strongly enough.

A stunning, beautiful cathedral. I'm always surprised at the scale of it as you approach and enter. There are many events through the year, so good to keep an eye on what is happening plus the prayers and choral events if they are of interest.

Lichfield Cathedral Tower Tour

Lichfield Cathedral Tower Tour is a great experience. Tours must be booked in advance from the Cathedrals website, but they are very reasonably priced for what you get to see. You must be reasonably fit, and good with heights, as there are some steep narrow staircases to negotiate, and small gaps to fit through. Our guide Graham was very knowledgeable, and great at explaining a lot about the history of the Cathedral. When you reach the highest point, there are some stunning views to be had. I highly recommend this tour. We loved it and will do it again at different times of the year for some differing views.
