As a long time (35 years+) wearer of a moustache I am pleased to see that they are making a bit of a comeback, especially as gents are being encouraged to grow them for charity! November is ‘Mo’ month raising funds and awareness of prostate cancer. How many Jersey men can grow a decent moustache in a month?

I am a great fan of Durrell and the work that they do and it has been unfortunate that the decline in the local tourism industry in recent years has had a significant negative impact on their income in recent years, however the arrival of a new baby gorilla is sure to be good news both for the species and Durrell.
TheBestof Jersey is pleased to offer local Charities and Sports Clubs a free opportunity to promote what they do and to bring their events/competitions to the attention of the many local people who view our website.
The Itex-Rotary walk is a prime example of how many Jersey people are prepared to both take up a demanding personal challenge and also strive to raise money for charity. I hope that everyone involved, both organisers, helpers and walkers have a great day.
Thursday 24th May is ‘Time for T’ day and theBestof has been appointed as a national partner for this brand new campaign. Why not take the opportunity to organise fundraising activities inspired by the letter ‘T’.
One of our Christmas presents was a book ‘Discovering Jersey, 30 circular walks’ which I noted was sold in aid of Jersey Hospice. We like walking and have now tried out some of the walks and I am pleased to recommend this book.

Teenage Cancer Trust 'Blue Day'
Please support the Teenage Cancer Trust 'Blue Day' on Friday 7th October. The purpose of the day is to raise the awareness of the charity and support its fundraising activity.
The RBC Group has committed C$50 million over 10 years to help protect freshwater. Joining The Wave gives us all the opportunity to show our support for water protection and help generate additional funds and awareness about this great project.
As part of the 2010 Children in Need appeal the BBC in Jersey are organising a cake baking contest for people across the island. There are so many excellent bakers out there. Could you be a winner??
