One of our favourite zoos in the UK. My nephew loved his junior keeper experience on this visit, Kara was amazing at answering his questions and showing him what it's like to be a keeper, definitely fueled his interest in becoming a keeper one day himself.

Really well thought out Dino park with some nice touches. The animatronics are good too and most models move and they are pretty much to scale. The zoo is well laid out and lots of eateries on the path too with talks about animals at set intervals. There is a short train ride in the park and a show for younger kids on a stage. Food is not cheap (where is these days) but tasted good and portions were not small. Parking was ample and upon entry to car park I was asked if I was a blue badge holder (I'm not) but I thought was also a plus. My 7 year old loved every minute and wants to go back even though we completed the whole park in 4-5 hours.

Best zoo in the country! I've been to many over the years with my children and this was the best! Very clean, great facilities, friendly staff, price was reasonable. Much more level and less spaced out than many out there, animals looked very healthy and looked after, please see my photos.

A lovely little zoo with a mixture of animals and a dinosaur attraction, lots of play areas too. We have a membership which is great value.

Wow how this has changed from my youth. Expensive entry not sure it was worth the money, however grandkids loved it especially the Jurassic dinosaurs and splash park.

The zoo is absolutely lovely. We did book to see the white lions but we didn't see online that they had been moved. Lion enclosure was closed off to the public as new lion attraction was settling in. Cant wait for a re-visit to see them.

What an absolute gem of a place. I was gifted a Red Panda experience by a friend and was just so blown away by the whole venue. The staff were friendly, warm and welcoming. Kara, our designated zookeeper for the experience, was amazing. Don't go expecting to "hand feed" Ash (the red panda) as he is a wild animal after all. Instead, go with the knowledge you'll have a unique encounter and get to spend time in one of the best zoos I've been to visit. Honestly, we spent the day just being so impressed by the whole venue even though our visit was in the quieter season. 💯 will come again.

So much attention to detail, the paths have animal footprints and leaves impressed in the. Decoration relevant to th origin of the animal etc. Monkeys and ring tailed leamers cute. Grandkids enjoyed the day. The dinosaur train ride a bit naff as you could walk round. Good day out.

Brilliant place. Animals are very well looked after. The enclosures are spacious and have lots of unique features. You can also observe the animals from multiple level walkways.
We took part in the mini zookeeper experience and it was fantastic. Staff are passionate about the animal welfare and very friendly.
The park has lots of slides and play areas, reasonably priced food, mini train ride (cost additional £2 pp) and free entry to Dinosaur Park with motion activated Dino displays.
Highly recommended for a fantastic day out with the whole family.
***
Updated
We've visited again in April 2025 and the place got even better. It now has a huge customer car park on the other side of the road, just a short walk to the gates. You can see that a lot of time , effort and funds is being invested into development of the zoo and caring for the animals as there are lots of new buildings, great viewing areas dedicated to British wildlife and conservation. We're really impressed and will certainly be coming back. Wish we had more time to spend there as there's so much to see one day is not enough.

Absolute fantastic zoo! So clean, it’s well maintained. Animals all look great, there’s plenty of seating spread out the park perfect to take your own picnic or use on the establishments there. Lots of play areas for the kids, toilets spread out well & there’s a dinosaur area too with a sandpit. Plenty of photo spots!

Had a brilliant day at Hertfordshire Zoo! The highlight for me was seeing a snow leopard – I’ve never seen one at other zoos like Dunstable ZSL or Colchester. The zoo has lots of picnic benches (some with roofs), plenty of free parking, and great play areas and animal shows. The staff are lovely and welcoming, and don’t leave without trying their fresh donuts – they’re a must! Highly recommend for a fun family day out.

"I had an amazing time at the zoo! The variety of animals was incredible, and it was clear that the staff are dedicated to the care and well-being of the animals. The enclosures were well-maintained, and the animals seemed to have plenty of space. I especially appreciated the educational signage and the interactive exhibits—my kids loved learning about the different species. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the zoo's layout made it easy to explore. I will definitely recommend this zoo to others, and I can’t wait to come back!

Disappointed with the amount of animals there were. I thought there would be a lot more. My daughter had a good time.

Not much to see. Animals were in cages while staff were cleaning and providing food for them at 09:30 opening time. Dino world is ok - if your child loves dinosaurs - if not is scary for them with noises & movement.

One of my favourite places to come with the kids. The canteen needs to improve though. £9.99 for a handful of tiny cauliflower bites and chips is a bit of a markup. And I feel a zoo should be encouraging people to eat the non meat options
