The Zoo has made so many changes & the work they do in the background is unbelievable. Well worth a visit. Big on conservation, if you ask some staff members, I'm sure they will tell you all about it.
If your kids love dinosaurs, they have a garden full of them and they can discover facts about them as they go.
There's a play area too for the kids while you sit & have some food.

We had an amazing day out celebrating our birthdays at Hertfordshire zoo. Every year you notice improvements and can see how well the animals are cared for through use of enrichment. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The enclosures have full size vision panels to enable viewing at all heights. A lot of the birds have free flight daily. Conservation is considered and implemented where ever possible

A really enjoyable day out with clean facilities and friendly staff. The zoo is split out with minimal walking between enclosures and then the entertainment side in a separate area which works really well!
The best part to our day was seeing the tiger walking past right next to the window multiple times which was incredible!
Will definitely be returning

This is the second time I have visited, the first time was in April and both times I did the VIP experience with the lemurs. What an amazing experience, hence why I did it twice! The first time I visited I walked around the zoo and hardly saw any animals but I went back around again and saw loads. In fact I managed to see every animal and if they were asleep the first time, they were up and about the second time. You can't dictate when an animal decides to walk around and not be asleep so you need to be patient. The catering was also brilliant. The zookeepers very friendly and knowledgeable. I would not hesitate to visit again.

We booked a corporate event at Hertfordshire Zoo and were fortunate enough to be hosted in the Tiger Room. It was our first time holding a large event at the zoo, and the day was fantastic.
The venue offered excellent views of the tiger enclosure, and we were lucky enough to see the tigers walk past several times throughout the day, which was a real highlight for our guests.
We also enjoyed a one-hour guided tour led by a member of the zoo team. His knowledge of the zoo, its animals, and conservation work was first-class and added greatly to the experience.
I would definitely recommend Hertfordshire Zoo to any business looking for a unique event venue, as well as to families looking for a great day out.

What an amazing place! I had a work conference there on Friday, and it was such an amazing day. We even had a tiger roaming around behind us! Then we got a tour from Chris, who was amazing and had so much knowledge, and got me thinking about vultures.

Thank you so much for hosting our company, I can't wait to come back with my family!

Visited yesterday as a family of 4 as part of my eldest daughter’s 10th birthday present. She loves big cats and is a fan of the show “OneZooThree” so was especially keen to see the jaguars (her favourite animal).
We got up early to arrive for the zoo opening and were all very impressed at how well maintained and colourful the zoo is.
As expected, the jaguars and red pandas (inc new born babies) were the highlights - but we had the added bonus of bumping into Aaron, arguably the main star of the programme. He was very friendly and generous with his time, stopping for a photo with my daughters.
We had a great full day at the zoo including lots of informative talks on the animals and recommend it highly.

We visited Hertfordshire Zoo for the first time to experience feeding a big cat. Our keeper was Hannah, who was very cheerful, extremely knowledgeable (obviously loves her big cats) and, although she must have had other duties to see to, we never felt rushed to finish up our experience and possibly even got a little more than our 30mins in the end. I had hoped to feed Siberia the tiger but she'd been fed the day before, it was already pretty hot by 9am and she really wasn't in the mood, which I totally understood; she's not a 'performing' cat after all. Hannah suggested we could try again later (but we decided against that as it would be even hotter) or see if Jessie the snow leopard was up for it, so off we went to see her. She was very much into the idea of some extra food, she zoomed around the structures in her enclosure to get to Hannah (and the food) . Once she was settled at the fence, Hannah walked me through the feeding procedure - to make sure I didn't come away with fewer fingers than I started with - and off we went. Jessie was very gentle with me and even licked my fingers, though it was through the gloves you need to wear to avoid passing on diseases. Once we were all done, she went off to sun herself on one of her favourite spots and, while she was relaxing, Hannah got a lovely close up photo of Jessie for us. On the way back to where the food is prepared to drop off her bucket, Hannah took us via the jaguars and told us a bit about Kedera and Kumal, including the fact that their daughter Leila is at The Big Cat Sanctuary (where I fed her last year!). It was good to be some of the first into the zoo that morning, so there were very few people about while we strolled around the big cat areas and it was actually very relaxing. It isn't cheap to feed a big cat but we felt it was well worth it for both the experience for me to get so close to a wonderful big cat and because the money goes to conservation of the animals you feed; so we both get something out of it.

I always prefer this zoo to most in the area. It is because the children can have a great time seeing animals without taking a long time to move from one enclosure to another. It is always worth it to go to some of the talks or when there are animal encounters. Always lots of fun!
