Fantastic day out for the whole family!
Have lived local and been visiting the zoo since I was a child and it was Paradise Wildlife Park and today I took my baby for his first visit to the zoo.
So many activities for kids, lots of play areas and food/picnic areas. The animals were well looked after and lots of variety. The dinosaur trail is also a highlight for little Jurassic Park fans. Such an excellent asset to the area.

My wife and I took our 3 year old grandson to the zoo and had a really enjoyable time. Our grandson particularly enjoyed the dinosaur robotics. The staff we talked to were friendly and knowledgeable. There was plenty to see and do.

The Award winning Hertfordshire Zoo was a fantastic wild-life adventure day out for our family with 2 under 5`year olds grand-kids and celebrating a No 4 birthday treat and huge enjoyment from all. The transformation of Herts Zoo into an unforgettable meeting animals family experience is entirely the brain-child of the remarkable Peter Sampson family whom first transformed it in 1984 onwards and into a new Zoological Society premier status not just in Herts but across the UK. Special mention is the World of Dinosaurs that is a realistic meeting face- to- face with 30 real-size Dinosaurs and with award winning UK Animatronic controls that bring their roars back to life and movements of tail and heads vibrating.. Velociraptor, Spinosaurus and stegosaurus and T -Rex- not pop band-all recreated in perfect unison. The scale and recreation of Dino sound is entirely realistic.. Our 2 year old grand-son was not frightened and in his element. The main appeal is with the close family interaction and feeding of the animals that include white lions, Amir tiger, lemurs,. Our own special wild-life experience interaction on the day was with a masterful demonstration of the raptors and Himalayan eagle owl and Laughing kookaburra from Australia that were swooping a mere inches from ground and catching, a morsel of food mid air .What is outstanding in the Herts Zoo Wild-life family experience is the well located safe play parks and spacious slides and cafes for youngest children and adults and the clean and strategic position of litter bins and toilets that ensures that all is neat and tidy and wholesome family appreciation. Zoo staff are very friendly and engaging with visitors and helpful to inform on Big Cats timetable or any specific daily scheduled talks or events like about the habit of the Red Panda.. It is not surprising that Herts Zoo has been voted the best Zoo family experience in the South of England. But for our family day close interaction with the animals ,meant so more as a birthday adventure for a four year old and a really happy and memorable treasured experience for our youngsters,

Very nice zoo, highly recommend seeing the red pandas, lions and snow leopard!
Not cheap but worth it as we had a lovely day out!

We came here as if booked ‘feed a big cat’ experience for my husband for his birthday. We didn’t realise the tiger had been relocated to BCS, so opted to feed one of the Jaguars instead. What an experience! We both fed the jaguar & so gentle & a privilege to interact with him, what a beautiful boy! The keeper was knowledgeable & answered our many questions.
We had a wander round afterwards, lots of animals to see - I loved the baby capybaras & the bird kingdom. We had a look at the Dino World, this was very well done & a nice addition to the zoo.
The gift shop was reasonably priced. We didn’t eat here, but noticed the prices were reasonable.
This was a lovely day out, would visit again!

Great animals , well kept, good facilities.

Not been here for a long time. I was very pleasantly surprised with the whole place. Will definitely recommend and return.

At first we didn't have a great opinion of the zoo, but that was mainly built off the scarcity of the visitors, the lack of stalls and stands being open (definitely a down season visit), and the "Discount Jurassic Park" World of Dinosaurs side of the park. The latter is best left to small children, as they lean heavily into the movie lore, even including moving models of dinos invented for the movies. Scientifically accurate it is not. If you enjoy a campy sideshow, it has its charm, however. Once we moved into the real animal enclosures, our view changed. It isn't the biggest zoo, but what it lacks in sheer volume and shine, it makes up for in presentation and visitor interaction. One of the zookeepers paused the middle of his feeding routines to go over facts about several reptiles and amphibians just to our small group. Worth a visit, especially if you have younger children.

The behind the scenes experience was fantastic! Chris made us feel so special, and we got to see and learn so much about the zoo and the animals. I'd absolutely recommend the experiences.

Great places to visit

It was a good day out for what was there but half of the animals was no where to be seen and ain’t there no more like they used to be

Came to see the Capys and they were amazing! The whole zoo was really tidy and all the staff were very kind and friendly too. The animals all seem to be well looked after too!

Excellent dino land, in General a very good zoo. However didn't see any jaguar leopard tiger or lions which was disappointing! So i would recommend but just not for a big cat experience

Fantastic day out for little ones with plenty to do , loads of animals , play parks , and dinosaurs . Food and gift shop prices are reasonable compared to others . Highly recommended will come again

We had the BEST day at Hertfordshire zoo! Everything about it is incredible and so well thought out. The animals have amazing enclosures, everything is so natural and takes the animals well being into account more than anything. As an SEN mum, I also really appreciated the smaller touches, such as the 'sensory warnings' in high traffic, high sensory areas; also the allergy support visible in the park. The staff are all so friendly and helpful, every time we stopped at a shop or cafe, we were asked how we were finding everything, staff were offering info about the history of the zoo, or tips about the best time and place to see our favourite animals. Would recommend a visit to everyone! Incredible zoo, our best day out for a long time!

Great zoo. We go every week. Lots to see and do. The dinosaur part is great too.

New visit and was very good

I visited with my 18 month old, she absolutely loves animals. It was so nice to see a lot of enclosures you could go into and really see the animals up close. They have everything there for kids, including a splash pool, lovely big park and soft play! We ended our day with soft play which was the cherry on top of her day. We also upgraded to membership so we can keep going back there!

Absolutely amazing zoo! Kids enjoyed the visit.
