We stayed two night in two different rooms. The first one was very fine but the second one (37) was at the end of the corridor with an unpleasant noise during the whole night.
The service quality on the beatiful terace is unbearable.
Staff was helpful but we didn't like hearing from a driver of the Hotel that Madeira is much better...

We booked this hotel for our Coral Wedding Anniversary. As it was our anniversary, we decided to book one of the platinum rooms. On arrival we were met by a very pleasant lady at reception who outlined the hotels amenities and who then took us to our room. We were somewhat surprised to discover no air conditioning , three tiny green apples plonked on a plate and two chocolate buttons wrapped in selophane with a green bow and the previous occupants welcome letter! Not quite what we expected for platinum service and £230 a night!
On the plus side the staff were all very obliging, even the young girl who agreed to clean our room by 3pm as it had not been cleaned when we returned at 2.30, and the young man who presented my sparkling water and lime in a jam jar!!!
Seriously though, the staff were great and the food was exceptional pity it was under the flight path.

Really good hotel with excellent views from the main building (annex has good accommodation but not the views). Breakfast was excellent; huge variety, good quality pleasant setting. Recommended hotel.

Had a good stay here on business, the desk and stool in my room weren't conducive for working though.

Be careful not to book one of the rooms up the hill at 'The Venue' as they are above a Mexican restaurant and there is some noise with people leaving.

We were on honeymoon. Hotel aware, received a congrats card, but that`s it. Did ask the hotel for a bottle of champagne in room on arrival-no show. I upgraded to a Platinum room prior to arrival. Given room 28, no balcony, basically used to be an attic room converted to a large room, with a skylight, and small opening windows with a view of the front of the hotel, valley, and sea. Shower over bath useful if you were a 3`6"midget. The room on arrival had three green apples and two biscuits as complimentary plus sherry decanter. Large bed/sky TV. Had meal in restaurant first night - partners meal totally wrong-had to go back-so I had eaten mine before hers came. Staff offered us free desert to compensate, however still charged on the bill. Meals weren`t that great. Breakfast is much better, although even then cooked breakfast came out wrongly 1 day. Has a nice small pool - beware of weekend parties with kids, pool is taken over. Bottom line would we stay here again....no. We enjoyed our honeymoon on the island, but we didn`t feel special at this hotel.

Interested to re visit this place after 7 years

Quite a lot has changed; terrace seating at front entrance, Tea Shop and 2 new lively restaurants

I booked two platinum rooms having previously stayed in gold

Arriving on a saturday i was immediately hit by the noise if the place. In the early evening of the first night some drunken ladies decided to turn on some music on their iphone and sing along with the music on the terrace directly opposite the platinum rooms
The next night a new group of younger woman found it amusing to wave at me looking out of the window

A neighbour decided to blast music so loud i thought initially it was an outside PA delivering it

All calmed down a bit after that until the following Saturday when i literally had to wait to the early hours to get any sleep; taxi after taxi , conversation after conversation in the main courtyard just rattled on. A couple in a neighbouring room with a balcony decided to have a loud conversation .
The evening was ended off nicely with the night porter kicking someone out of the premises; presumably from the bar

The platinum rooms themselves were lovely but extremely variable. Some on the upper floor had balconies ; unfortunately ours didn't and was sandwiched between two that did; so we were free to enjoy the neighbours noise.
My mother had a room downstairs which was far grander and double the size but was even closer to the terrace. Non had air con which i think would help with keeping windows closed and noise insulation.

Breakfasts were definitely improved since my earlier visit with better choice and quality
The ocean restaurant was nice but food a bit variable as was the service

Overall seeing that we hired 2 rooms for a week there was no real recognition that we weren't at any time just staying over night . You never felt anyone was actually managing the hotel or coordinating guests and checking on well being
2 staff members shone out the waitress with red hair at breakfast who was there every morning and the french lady at reception. Other that it felt very take it or leave it

Our room was really nice with a lovely view. It was my husbands birthday while we where there and he received a card and champagne at breakfast. lovely touch.
Thank you fermain valley for a lovely stay and we most definitely will be back.

Second visit and we were even more impressed than the first visit! The staff were absolutely impeccable, from the moment we called and made a reservation to when we left. Food was delicious. Certainly will be back. Thank you

We had a fabulous cream tea here and a couple of drink on the patio overlooking the sea.

It is a beautiful hotel and he staff are friendly, welcoming and helpful.

My parents stayed at this hotel 54 years ago when it was La Favorita so it was great to find it and be able to take them back there for a visit.

Lovely hotel in a quiet area. Would stay here if I go back to Guernsey!

A long weekend at this hotel proved to be a mixture. We partook in musical chairs so to speak - we were moved from one room to the other. If you can avoid it, do not go for a room to the back of the hotel, as there is a terasse below. Guests will be keeping you awake out to the small hours,
No food experience - ate out in town! well, the breakfast was filling/good.
Very friendly and effective work force. Reception very good.Grounds very neat and well kept. Very clean in/out.

My husband and I stayed one night as he was playing a cricket match on the island. Very nice room (newly refurbished) and balcony. The terraces and garden are also very pleasant and it's a short walk to the lovely bay and beach cafe below the hotel with easy access to the coastal path. My only criticism is that the bar was I atmospheric and so we went to the Rock Garden grill (the other venue in the hotel ) which had a rather dated 80's wine bar feel and was rather noisy . A tasteful, intimate bar and cook to order breakfast rather than buffet style would raise the standard

Stayed here overnight whilst in Guernsey on business. The room was lovely, facilities good, views breathtaking, food of the highest standard. BUT and its a big but, if you book a room for a leisure stay, get confirmation that you're in the main hotel and not the annex building which is located up the road and which does not have the breathtaking views. Other than that, I think it would be impossible to fault this hotel.

I selected this hotel for it's location in respect of my business trip to Guernsey. of the 5 hotel options my employer sourced, this was the cheapest. I was delighted to receive a free room upgrade to a room on the 2nd floor with a balcony that overlooked the gardens and the splendid sea view.

I took a walk down to the sea front and was delighted with the view. It's a steep walk down and steeper on the way back up so those not so mobile will struggle.

The Rock Garden restaurant was a huge bonus as their Rib Eye steak was to die for.

Great service from every touch point and a great hotel in a stunning setting.

I'll chose to stay here again for sure.

PS: the hotel is on the flight path for the airport but as flights do not operate during the night, this had no impact on my stay.

An excellent way to start a short break, picked up at the airport by the hotels transport. Excellent reception and bags portered to room. A very clean airy room with an excellent small balcony. Bar and restaurants were of a high standard.

Dan on reception was incredible! The hotel is amazing and the views are breathtaking but Dan helped out massively with a late check out which I really needed. This wasnt all. The staff are so friendly and helpful but Dan's welcoming and calm friendly nature made my stay perfect. Thank you!

We recently stayed for 6 nights here. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The staff we met were courteous and friendly. We had evening meals on two occasions in the Rock Garden Restaurant and once in the Ocean Restaurant - all meals were enjoyed. Unfortunately, the breakfast experience was chaotic. Guests were not served in the order they arrived, toast was rarely done properly despite frequent requests, and waiting staff were often confused about which table they should be serving (a clear numbering system for tables would help here). The seating and tables outside the Ocean Restaurant were not cleaned after use, bowls, etc, were left on tables overnight, and the ground area was not swept clean at all to our knowledge. The hotel deserves its 4-star rating, but we feel that a little complacency has crept in. Hopefully, our observations above may help in this.

This was my second stay here and will stay again, gave it 5 stars last time but knocked it down to 4 for this visit. Staff are friendly and the decor and rooms are to a great standard, the hotel wasn't full or seemed busy but still never managed a room with a sea view, ended up looking out the rear of the hotel. They also no longer offer the service to drop you off in town in the evening which was useful as taxis can be a wait and quite slow

We loved the Fermain Valley Hotel. Our platinum room was comfortable and quiet. The whole hotel was immaculate and the staff friendly and efficient. The nearest bus stop 5 mins away has four busses in each direction every hour. You can get to any point on the island for £1 and a whole tour of the island is also just £1, a brilliant service. Why bother with car hire? There is a nice cafe at the beach which is well worth the steep walk down the road. St Peter Port is a busy town with plenty of shops and an interesting harbour.

Visited for 3 nights at end of May/ beg June - very pleased with my choice of hotel! Reception excellent, accommodated our delayed arrival with no fuss - briefed by manager and felt instantly at home with a late lunch on the terrace, looking down the atmospheric sub-tropicall valley towards the sea in the distance. Walked down to private beach to soak up the ambience, took advantage of wonderful choice of cakes in cafe, and on way back was delighted to find the well-designed and extensive garden at back too! Really enjoyed the spacious Platinum suite at front of the hotel, with super views, which we were lucky enough to have for 3 nights in end, only having originally booked for 2 nights online. Tried both restaurants - one at front better value, trendier night club at back a little noisy for us, but to be fair we were probably oldest in room ! Most staff very courteous, and welcoming, although our greeting at breakfast was not so good.... Excellent base for touring island, with plenty to keep us busy locally in first 24 hours. Just under 10 mins from the hustle and bustle of St Peter Port. Overall however our experience was great and I shall be recommending this hotel to others!

Myself and my wife had the most incredible stay at this hotel on our first visit to Guernsey.
The hotel is set in amazing grounds that lead down to the beach, and has everything on site, nice bars and restaurants, swimmimg pool, gardens, etc.
If you want to venture to the old port of St Peters Port the hotel offers a ride in one of its cabs that are happy to shuttle you around.
Great service, great food and great location .....Cant wait to go again.

Top class hotel. Picked up at the airport and transported to the hotel. Reception welcoming and quick. Bags waiting outside room. The room was spot on with an excellent balcony. Meals were of an high standard as was the various bars. Waiter service was excellent. The breakfast set you up for the day. Could not fault the hotel in any way but would not want to.

My wife and I have stayed in quite a few hotels on Guernsey and this is by far the best in our view. We stayed for a long weekend to celebrate my wife's birthday and our visit could not have been better. Gavin on reception was friendly and efficient and once checked in showed us to our platinum room which was huge and had great views down the valley to the sea. The room itself was very comfortable and provided everything you could want for your stay. We took breakfast on the terrace and the food and service were both excellent. Dinner in the main restaurant was great with a wide choice of well cooked dishes; again staff were all excellent. We booked for the Rock streak restaurant for one night but when we arrived back at the hotel this was closed due to some issues with the cookers that could not be resolved by the engineer that the hotel had called in. No matter, the contingency plan had been put into action and all reservations had been moved to the main restaurant - along with the Rock menu of some really great steaks (there are other options for those who want something other than steak). The steaks themselves were excellent - beautifully cooked and extremely tasty. Outside the hotel the grounds are well maintained and quite stunning in places. Overall this is a beautiful hotel with good levels of service, good food and great service. One to be recommended and we will certainly be back.

Friendly and stylish hotel. Staff were very helpful, picked us up from the airport in a complimentary car. A nice relaxing hotel with two very good restaurants. The swimming pool was empty and warm and nice views from the terrace. Highly recommended.

I was starting to get a complex after my last series of reviews were all negative however after staying two nights in the Fermain valley my faith in the hotel industry has been restored.

The hotel is of the highest standards, moderns, very clean and in a picturesque setting. I had what I describe as a small suite in the adjoining building called the venue. The room had everything I could want for, free water, newspapers, sky tv, robes and all the trimmings. The room had the most fantastic view and a excellent modern functional bathroom. The standard of cleaning is phenomenal and for the first time in months I've a bathroom with sparkling lime scale free fittings. The bed was so comfy and a proper bed not two singles pushed together.

Food was reasonably priced (although i do charge the company) and very high quality, one slight grumble is the room service menu has no starters or deserts.

Other hotels take note in the previous two weeks I've stayed in another 4 star and one 3 star against this place they wouldn't even get half a star in my book.

I look forward to coming back !
