These events provide a platform for industry experts to sponsor and present on ‘hot topics’ to members of the construction sector. Architects, HLM presented at the first technical breakfast for 2016 hosted at the prestigious Dean Clarke House, based in Southernhay, Exeter.
The event attracted over 30 invited guests who enjoyed a light breakfast and networking opportunities at Thrive Hubs in Dean Clarke House. The Grade II listed building has a combination of spacious rooms and period features offering a prestige business-club feel.
David Greensmith – Business Development Director – Glen King PR said: “As a company, Glen King PR supports clients across a large number of sectors and have a specialist knowledge of the construction industry. We identified a need for local construction experts to present on ‘hot topics’ targeted at small groups of like-minded people. Last year’s pilot event was well received and generated a lot of interest, as a result we are launching a series of quarterly sessions covering a wide range of topics, across all construction disciplines and sectors.”
Corporate BIM Manager, Paul Tunstall, HLM presented on ‘Building Information Modelling’ (BIM) and how to work towards attaining BIM Level 2, ahead of the government’s April 2016 deadline for public sector project compliance. Recently receiving BIM accreditation, HLM is now only one of a handful of companies to have been awarded the prestigious BIM certification through the BRE BIM Level 2 Business Systems Certification scheme.
Ajay Sharma, HLM director – Plymouth Office said: “HLM Plymouth has worked with Glen King PR for over two years on press opportunities and business development across the South West. We are delighted to be one of the first presenters at the new series of ‘Technical Breakfasts’; the event was professionally organised and held at a great venue. He adds: “Achieving BIM certification allows companies to extend engagement with the public sector and be fully aligned to work in partnership both with existing and new clients. It was a wonderful opportunity for HLM to demonstrate how BIM showcases new skills and services for our clients, and demonstrate how it can work for other industry professionals.”
David Greensmith concludes: “The government’s new public sector project compliance comes into effect in April this year. HLM Architects were recently awarded the prestigious BIM certification through the BRE BIM Level 2, so it was a key topic to show in detail, the value and importance of having BIM built into planning and design infrastructure. Paul from HLM delivered a highly technical and insightful presentation to the group and the feedback on the seminar and venue was very positive.”
