A TRIO of Evesham Rowing Club athletes have been selected to represent Great Britain and England at three different events over the next few weeks and success has already been achieved by cox Imogen Dalivalle.

Liam Tustin has been chosen to row in the Great Britain eight at the Junior World Championships in Hamburg, Germany, starting on August 7.

Tustin, who was a gold medallist for GB at the European Championships last year, was selected after a series of trials dating back to last October. He finally won through after a five-day series of side by side seat races at Nottingham in the middle of July and is currently training with his crew and the GB coaches at Pangbourne College in Berkshire in preparation for the regatta.

James Mackins, who attends Prince Henry's School in Evesham, was also selected from the trials process and will represent GB at the Junior European Championships which start at Libourne in France this weekend. Mackins will row in his single against the best of Europe.

There has already been glory for Evesham Rowing Club as Dalivalle was selected to cox the girls' coxed four and eight at the Home Internationals which were held in Cork, Ireland, at the weekend and the Evesham member won gold with the England eight.

In total, Evesham's Junior Performance squad have gained four GB and one England vest this year, as well as winning the Schools Head and gaining the club's first ever Championship crew medal at The National Schools Regatta, beating the likes of Eton and Abingdon School on the way.

They also represented the club at Henley Royal Regatta before losing to a much older Sydney Rowing Club crew.

Their coach Bill Sullivan said: "It's been quite a year and it's fantastic to see the incredible amount of commitment and dedication shown by these athletes rewarded.

"I'm sure they will represent their country and their home town with pride.
