Why Your Fire Risk Assessment Should Be More Than the Cheapest Quote

More than just a fire risk assessment

When choosing a company to carry out your fire risk assessment, it can be tempting to compare quotes and simply choose the cheapest.

However, fire risk assessments are not all the same.

At Southern Fire Risk Assessments, we believe an assessment should be thorough, easy to understand and genuinely useful. Our approach is built around honesty, integrity, independence and doing the job properly.

The cheapest quote is not always the best value

Before choosing an assessor, it is worth asking what you are actually getting for your money.

Will your premises be properly assessed? Will you receive a detailed, easy-to-read report with photographs and clear explanations? Or will you receive a generic document containing brief, one-line answers that tell you very little about how conclusions have been reached?

A fire risk assessment is an important legal and life-safety document. We believe the report should reflect that.

Our reports clearly explain what we have found, why it matters and what needs to be done. Equally, where something is satisfactory, we provide enough information to explain why.

Independent advice, without the upselling

Southern Fire Risk Assessments is completely independent.

We do not install fire alarms, replace fire doors, service extinguishers or carry out general building works. That means we have no financial incentive to recommend unnecessary remedial work.

We do not attend your premises looking for things we can subsequently quote to repair. We attend to assess the fire risk.

If something needs attention, we will tell you. If it does not, we are not going to recommend work simply to make the action plan longer.

Our recommendations are based on the building, the people using it and the actual level of risk. Fire safety should be suitable and proportionate, not a one-size-fits-all approach.

We are here after the assessment

Our service does not end when we email your report.

If you have a question, need clarification on an action, or want us to review photographs once work has been completed, we are happy to help.

Where remedial work is genuinely required, we can also recommend tried and tested local companies for services such as fire alarms, fire doors, electrical work and property maintenance.

There is no obligation to use them, and we receive no financial benefit from recommending them. You are equally welcome to use your own contractors.

Our aim is to help you get from “this needs attention” to “this has been resolved properly”.

Local, friendly and approachable

We are an independent Sussex-based business, not a national call centre.

You know who you are dealing with, and if you need advice afterwards, you can speak to the people who understand your premises and carried out the assessment.

We want to build relationships with our clients, not simply send a report and move on to the next job.

We want people to be safe, whoever they choose

Of course, we would love you to choose Southern Fire Risk Assessments, but ultimately we want people to be safe.

Whoever carries out your assessment, make sure they are competent, the assessment is completed properly and the recommendations are supported by evidence.

Do not choose on price alone. Consider the quality of the assessment, the report you will receive, the independence of the advice, reviews from previous customers and the support available afterwards.

At Southern Fire Risk Assessments, our approach is simple: do the job properly, be honest, stay independent, recommend only what is necessary and proportionate, and support our clients every step of the way.

Fire safety without the hard sell.

Southern Fire Risk Assessments provides independent, practical fire safety advice you can trust.
