Planning to install an electric vehicle charger at home or at your business? Make sure you choose a qualified, registered and insured electrical contractor.

From 1 October 2026, updated industry requirements under the Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS) introduce additional qualification requirements for electrical contractors and individuals carrying out electric vehicle (EV) charging installations. The changes are designed to help ensure that those responsible for this work have the appropriate knowledge and competence for the technology they install.

For homeowners, landlords and local businesses across Eastbourne and East Sussex, choosing the right installer is an important part of making the switch to electric vehicles safely and confidently.
