Vaccine Centre to open in Eastbourne Sovereign Centre

Eastbourne's Sovereign Centre is joining the Coronavirus fight as a vaccine centre for residents in the town.

Opening from Sunday 24 January, the NHS will be providing vaccinations on an invitation only basis in the large sports hall of the leisure centre from 8am to 8pm each day.

Eastbourne Borough Council Lead Cabinet Member for Tourism and Enterprise, Cllr Margaret Bannister said: "We are proud to be supporting the NHS in this endeavour. Our Conference Eastbourne and Sovereign Centre teams have rallied round to open up the premises safely and securely, ready to welcome a high volume of people, and will continue to work closely with the NHS to help in their delivery of the local vaccination programme at pace.

"We would like to make clear however that vaccinations are by appointment only. Please do not attend without an invitation. It will not be possible to vaccinate you without a valid appointment."

Dr Raj Chandarana, South Downs Health and Care GP Federation Medical Director, said: "We are delighted with this collaboration which will allow us to vaccinate many more people per day, subject to vaccine supply."
