An updated booklet on the history of Meads has been printed, with support from the three ward councillors from Eastbourne Borough Council.

Author and Meads resident - Kim Adams teamed up with well-known local historian Nicholas Howell to write and illustrate the booklet.

The £500 grant from the Devolved Budget will allow 2,000 copies of the guide to be printed. Councillor Robert Smart said the historic guide had proved very popular over the years and that he was delighted an updated version was now available.

"Part of our role as ward councillors is to promote Meads and to promote the benefits of walking and exercise," Cllr Smart said. "By supporting this guide, we are meeting both targets and giving people an excellent historic guide to this fascinating part of Eastbourne."

The Devolved Budget grant is supported by fellow ward councillors Barry Taylor and Jane Lamb.

A Historic Guide to Meads can be ordered via the Meads Community Association website www.meadscommunityassociation.org.uk priced £5 + postage.
