Eastbourne seafront was packed with St Wilfrid’s supporters taking part in Starlight Stroll on Saturday evening (12th September).
Starlight Stroll is the charity's much-loved sponsored walk, giving an opportunity for people to remember a loved one while raising money for hospice care.
Nine hundred people completed either a 5-mile route along Eastbourne seafront, or a 10-mile course which also took in Sovereign Harbour. During the walk, they stopped at The Italian Garden in Holywell to lay a special lantern, remember loved ones, reflect on precious memories and celebrate the impact of hospice care.
So far, over £70,000 has been raised, with more sponsorship money being added all the time.
Events Manager, Beth Hillier, said: “It was a beautiful night for a walk under the stars, and I’m so pleased the weather was kind to us. Starlight Stroll is a real highlight in our events calendar. We’d like to thank all our walkers and volunteers who marshalled the route or helped out in the event village at Princes Park or The Italian Garden. We’re also very grateful to all our sponsors, including headline sponsors Whiteline and Team Frames, and Memory Garden sponsors Caffyns Group, for their support. We couldn’t do it without you all.”
St Wilfrid’s Hospice provides high-quality care and support for people across Eastbourne, Seaford, Hailsham, Uckfield, Heathfield (and all points between) with life-limiting illnesses.
