''Renew now'' for garden waste collection service

Hundreds of Eastbourne residents who use the council's garden waste collection service are being reminded it's time to renew their subscription.

People have until Friday, March 19, to renew online and guarantee the service continues without interruption between April 2021 to March 2022.

Anyone who does so after this date may experience a delay in the arrival of their new permit for 2021/22 and a pause in collections.

The service costs £52 for a year which equates to less than 15p per day.

Councillor Jonathan Dow, Cabinet member for Climate Change, said: "I urge people to renew now, before the deadline arrives, so they can enjoy a continuous service which will be especially important when the better weather arrives and everyone starts using and tending to their gardens more."

Additional bins are available for an extra £52 per bin. In some cases, neighbours club together and share one bin if they do not produce enough garden waste on their own. Items which can be disposed of include grass cuttings, leaves, wood chippings, hedge trimmings, plants and flower cuttings.

Councillor Dow added: "Renewing online is simple and only takes a couple of minutes - a much quicker job than mowing your lawn!"
