Rainbow Runners in good spirits despite wet weather

The wind and rain didn’t dampen the spirits of St Wilfrid’s Hospice supporters who took part in Rainbow Run on Saturday (6th June).

The event at Nash Street Farm, near Hailsham, invited people to run, jog, walk or skip around a 5km route, encountering seven paint stations, two foam stations and a big paint party at the end.

Nearly 1,500 people signed up to take part, and so far, they have raised more than £95,000, with sponsorship money being added all the time.

Beth Hillier, Events Manager at St Wilfrid's Hospice, said: “Although this was our wettest Rainbow Run yet, we still had a lot of fun. We’d like to thank everyone who took part and kept smiling despite the weather, and also our wonderful volunteers, the individual paint station sponsors, and headline sponsor Barwells Solicitors.

“Also, thanks to the team from MedXPlus Medical Services who offered their services for free to support the hospice. We really couldn’t do this event without you all. However, the biggest thank you must go to the Thomas family who kindly let us use their farm once again. It’s an invaluable resource and without it we would struggle to put the event on,” Beth added.

If you missed out on Rainbow Run and would like to take on another event in aid of St Wilfrid’s Hospice, the next one is Starlight Stroll on 12th September. Visit stwhospice.org/starlight for more information.
