The local community is being invited to unleash their creativity and help shape a new art installation at St Wilfrid’s Hospice.
Precious Pebbles encourages people of all ages to decorate a pebble - whether in memory of a loved one, to mark a special place or moment, or simply to share a colourful design or meaningful message. Any design or style is welcome.
The collection will celebrate the stories, connections and experiences that matter most to local people.
Andy Carstairs, Therapies and Living Well Manager at St Wilfrid’s Hospice, said: “Whether people choose to paint a name, a picture, a pattern or a few heartfelt words, their pebble will help create a beautiful, shared display of memories, creativity and community spirit.
“The pebble could be a stone brought home from a meaningful trip, found on a local walk, or one that simply feels special. We can’t wait to see all the pebbles displayed together in the final installation, which will be unveiled in our garden in March.”
If people would like to take part but don’t already have a pebble, they are urged not to take one from the beach, but to visit the hospice in Broadwater Way, Eastbourne, where they have some recycled ones to give out. People can also decorate a pebble at the Gather community space in the Beacon shopping centre on Monday, 16th February between 9.30am and 1.30pm.
Pebbles should be dropped off at St Wilfrid’s Hospice by 28th February. For more information, please visit www.stwhospice.org/preciouspebbles or email hospice@stwhospice.org
