Local Eastbourne resident, Richard Kirk has just released his second book, Thomas, Wizard’s Son, writing, as usual under his birth name of Joseph R. Mason. Born in Swaffham, Norfolk and brought up in London after being kidnapped by an aunt following the death of his own mother when he was 4 days old, (long but true story), he has spent most of his working life in the pump industry in Eastbourne. He gave up work in 2015 after travelling the world with his job as European Sales Manager with the extra responsibility for training others about pumping technology from around the globe.

This is the first book in a new series called ‘The Tales of Trymyll’. Set in a mythical land the stories follow the exploits of a 13-year-old Welsh boy who does not believe in magic, or wizards, or dragons, and yet, one weekend he is drawn into a cave which only he can see where he meets a 60-foot purple dragon who leads him through the cave and into the land of Trymyll. Just as it already has in his own land, the magic is disappearing out of Trymyll. To compound the problem, there is a misanthropic and evil wizard called the Master, who wants to destroy Trymyll and everyone in it. Yet Tom is there to save the day, he has no magic and no idea how to fulfil his destiny. Book 2 is well on the way, Jonathan, Dragonmaster, featuring both Tom and his 15-year-old brother Jon. The third part of this trilogy, Glynda, Dragonslayer, is yet to be started although Glynda features heavily in book 2. Thomas, Wizard’s Son has been enjoyed by children and adults alike, it is available on Amazon.co.uk (search for Joseph R Mason) and makes an ideal stocking filler.

Joseph R. Mason is also a published poet and short story writer with many of his poems and stories being included in printed anthologies and magazines as well as his own publication ‘Little Book of Pomes.’
