The Sussex Cancer Fund was delighted to take delivery of 100 forehead thermometers as a very kind donation from local firm Electronic Temperature Instruments Ltd.

The thermometers will be given to patients, who need to monitor their temperatures at home but who may not have access to an accurate thermometer of their own.

Faye Donnachie, Nurse Manager, Chemo ward “We are so grateful to ETI for the amazing gift of 100 forehead thermometers. Thermometers are a vital piece of equipment that we rely on when treating our patients, during our information sessions we tell patients to obtain a thermometer and this is because we ask that they check their temperature if they are feeling unwell, patients receiving treatment are susceptible to neutropenic sepsis and a sign of this is a temperature of 37.5 or below 36.0c. Some groups of patients do not have one readily at home and receiving this donation means we can give them to patients who need them so that we can continue to monitor our patients safely. We will also be using them in all our areas; Sussex Cancer Centre chemo unit, Princess Royal Hospital chemo unit, and Sussex Cancer Centre outpatients.”

Jason Webb, Managing Director at ETI comments “It is a pleasure to support Sussex Cancer Fund and help raise awareness of the incredible job they do. Cancer is something that has sadly touched many of our lives, and the staff at ETI were pleased to team up with such a worthwhile organisation and help local people living with cancer during their treatment plan.”

Thank you to ETI Ltd and their staff for their ongoing support of the Sussex Cancer Fund.
