How to Promote New Year's Eve Events in Eastbourne

New Year's Eve has one particularly unforgiving deadline.

People cannot decide to attend your New Year's Eve event in January.

Restaurants, hotels, venues, pubs, clubs, theatres and community organisations can all be competing for the same evening, while local people decide where they want to welcome the New Year.

Getting your event visible early gives people more opportunity to choose yours.

New Year's Eve often requires advance planning

Some people make spontaneous plans on 31 December.

Plenty do not.

Groups need to agree where they are going. Restaurants and venues may require reservations. Ticketed events can sell out. Visitors staying locally may want their evening organised before arriving in Eastbourne.

That means people can start searching for New Year's Eve events much earlier than organisers sometimes expect.

Make it easy to compare your event

People looking for somewhere to celebrate may have several options.

Give them enough information to understand yours.

Include details such as:

  • Start and finish times
  • Ticket prices
  • Whether advance booking is essential
  • Food or dining arrangements
  • Live entertainment
  • DJs or dancing
  • Midnight celebrations
  • Dress codes
  • Age restrictions
  • Accessibility
  • Accommodation where relevant

If something is included within the ticket price, say so.

Sell the experience, not just the date

Almost every New Year's Eve event happens on the same night.

The date therefore does not differentiate you.

The experience does.

Perhaps it is a special dinner, live music, family celebration, themed party, entertainment package or relaxed gathering.

Tell people what makes spending New Year's Eve with you different from going somewhere else.

Don't wait until December

If your New Year's Eve plans are already confirmed, start promoting them.

Adding your event early gives it longer to be discovered through thebestof Eastbourne What's On guide and gives people more time to organise groups and make bookings.

It also gives us more opportunity to consider the event when we are producing New Year content, newsletters and other relevant local promotion.

Again, that additional exposure is not guaranteed.

But once a promotional opportunity has passed, an event submitted afterwards cannot benefit from it.

Help people decide where to welcome the New Year

If you know what you are doing for New Year's Eve, tell Eastbourne.

Give people the information they need and enough time to put your event in their diary.

Add your New Year's Eve event to thebestof Eastbourne What's On guide.

I work with local businesses who are already great at what they do and make their reputation visible so customers choose them with confidence.
