Last Friday it was the St Wilfrid’s Hospice business awards which was held at The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne.
Having been enthusiastic supporters of St Wilfrid’s since 2016 when we started our ongoing service ‘Papers for St Wilfrid’s’ Haulaway was delighted to discover we had made the final three for the ‘Most Innovative Fundraising Initiative’ award and were excited to attend the awards ceremony.
The evening began with a welcome drink and delicious three course meal with a silent auction taking place in between courses. Once dinner had ended it was time for the awards ceremony to begin. Fortunately, our award category was up first so we didn’t have long to sit and anticipate. With an overwhelming eighty nominations we were thrilled when it was announced that we had won! We couldn’t have done it without the continued support from all of our red box residents in Hailsham and Hellingly, so a big thank you to you and of course to everyone that took the time to nominate us.
It was lovely to listen to how all the other companies had contributed to the hospice and see them get thanked for all their hard work and support. Once the awards had all been presented and the auction winners announced it was time to liven things up with 80’s cover band ‘Sound of the Crowd’. It didn’t take long for the dance floor to fill up and by the end of the night it was safe to say a good time had been had by all.
