Ratton councillors have funded the planting of 12 trees on three streets across the ward.
Located in Halland Close, Stanmer Drive and Waldron Close, the trees are being paid for through Eastbourne Borough Council’s Devolved Budget scheme.
They will be planted before Christmas, bringing environmental improvements as well as enhancing the look of the area.
In Old Town, councillors have donated £250 for a new tree in Old Camp Road.
With many trees recently lost to ash dieback and Dutch elm disease in Old Town, residents had raised £250 for one tree and applied for match-funding from councillors for this second one to be planted.
Meanwhile, older people in sheltered housing at Upwycke House in Old Town will benefit from a £300 award to create a communal garden area with flowers and a water feature in the grounds.
At Ocklynge School, a dedicated friendship area - including a friendship bench that represents a safe haven where children can speak to their peers or adults – is being built thanks to £400 given by Old Town councillors.
Elsewhere, Sovereign ward councillors have put up £600 needed for new heaters at Defiant Sports, a community interest company that provides activities for children and adults with disabilities or long-term conditions.
