The application process for the recently announced Local Restriction Support Grants is now open and can be accessed via the Eastbourne Borough Council.

Businesses that the government have said must close during the current lockdown can apply for grants of up to £3,000 per month.

The criteria for the scheme is based on the rateable value of the business property, with different levels of payments being made for those under £15,000, between £15,000 and £51,000 and those over £51,000.

All applications must be made by 2 December 2020.

Councillor David Tutt, Leader of Eastbourne Borough Council, said: "These are very tough times for businesses, whether they remain open during lockdown or have been forced to shut.

"I'd like to thank our officers for getting the application system up and running so quickly and encourage business owners to apply soon."

Details of the scheme including the eligibility criteria and how to claim can be found at www.lewes-eastbourne.gov.uk

Anyone who experiences difficulties when applying should email specialistrevs@lewes-eastbourne.gov.uk with your business details, including your business rates account number.

The council is also in the process of developing a policy for Additional Restrictions Grant which is a discretionary scheme to support non-rateable businesses - more details will be available on the council's website later next week.
