Have stayed at this hotel twice and have always been impressed with the cleanliness of the rooms, friendly and helpfulness of the staff and choice and quality of the breakfast, will definitely return.

We needed just a one night stay in Eastbourne and picked the Sheldon, mainly because of the private parking facilities.
It's not a bad little place at all, nothing special but it did fulfil our needs. The only thing I didn't like was the hard pillows, but that's personal preference.
It's quite relaxed, you can order a take away and eat in, they provide information about the local area and discounts at local restaurants.
The room was clean and fully equipped with the necessaries and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was good too.
And it's only a 5 minute walk to the beach and 7 minutes from the town centre - what more could you ask?!

This is our second stay at the Sheldon. It didnt disappoint again lovely and clean and quiet. The owners are great and are willing to give ideas of things to do in Eastbourne. We had a lovely suite with tea and coffee facilities very large and roomy, all areas very very clean.Only wished we had a shower as we both prefer a shower, on this visit we decided to miss breakfast but the last time it was really lovely.Car parking on site is also a bonus point and being near to all amenities all short walk away.We loved the open top sight seeing bus trip this time it was fascinating 20.00 for us both.Well worth a ride to beachy head and burling gap too

This is a well managed friendly hotel in an excellent location near to the front but far enough back to be not bothered by traffic noise.
Our room at the rear of the hotel was perfect for us and was very comfortable and clean.
Judith Brown, our host, couldn't have been more helpful or friendly.
We would definitely stay here when next in Eastbourne.

Booked for 4 nights ended up staying 5. This hotel is in an ideal location for the town centre and the sea front. Judith is a lovely host always bubbly and happy to help. Our room was very spacious and allowed my partner to work at times when needed. Great place to stay.

My husband, my brother and I stayed for just one night at The Sheldon as we had booked to see a favourite show at a local theatre. The hotel is conveniently located, just off the sea front and within easy walking distance of Eastbourne town centre as well as local theatres. Restaurants and local shops within a couple of minutes walk. The convenience of on site parking is such a bonus - few Eastbourne hotels have this luxury and rely on street parking with vouchers. The hotel is not really suitable for anyone with mobility issues as there are a number of steps to reach the Reception area but there is a lift once in the hotel. There are sitting rooms at the front of the hotel on the same level as Reception. My brother's single room was a good size and had a side sea view and our standard double room was more than adequate, clean and well decorated. The breakfast choice is really excellent and breakfast is cooked to order. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return before too long. I found the owner very helpful when booking and she was happy for my cousin, who lives in Eastbourne, to join us for breakfast at a very reasonable charge which was lovely.

I booked a single room and this was a good choice as I felt very cosy (that's not so say there isn't plenty of room and storage - there is!) There is a lovely, clean shower room (looked like it was recently decorated so very nice indeed) The room was warm (a bit warm for me to start with, but it was very easy to adjust the temperature to the right level) very clean and had everything that I needed. Other reviewers have commented on problems with the TV but I found it very easy to follow the instructions!! WIFI is good too. I arrived a bit early but was greeted warmly, and could check in to my room and leave my car while I went to set up at the conference. The breakfast was brilliant - freshly cooked to order, lots of it and delicious. The road outside was quiet over the weekend and the on-site car parking a HUGE bonus. Easy walk to town, conference venue and seafront for a breath of fresh air - highly recommended hotel.

A very good location to go shopping , theatres and even closer to the beach . A big plus is the off road parking at the back of the hotel,so no worries with leaving car for days there . We had a superior double room on the second floor. No problem getting cases or ourselves there as there is a good lift ,plenty of room for 2 and suitcases .The room was very big and high ceilings too. A 6 foot bed, very comfortable. plenty of space for clothes to be hung up or put away. We had tea, coffee, hot chocolate provided for us to make. There was a bath with a tap/ handheld shower unit on as we didn't ask for a shower and also a toilet, wash basin all set in a lovely en-suite. There was a iron and hairdryer in the room too. The room was very clean and warm ,we even turned the radiators down at night as it was so warm . Both days the cooked breakfast was very good and we had cereals and toast before it,very filling . There is a very big lounge you can use on the reception level with some comfortable settees in. We had a wonderful stay in a great hotel, run by a lovely couple . Would recommend to anyone .

Nice hotel in a quiet street. I had a single room and it was a good size clean room. I did feel I was perhaps the only guest in the hotel as it was extremely quiet but it's Eastbourne after all! The staff was very polite.I had pancakes for breakfast in the morning and they were tasty.

We found this to be a very clean, comfortable and efficiently run B and B in a most convenient and quiet location , which enabled us to enjoy a lovely walk along the beach before breakfast. Judith and her family did everything they could to make our stay pleasant, and got the balance right, of being helpful, and meeting our practical needs, but at the same time, were not intrusive. Having private parking was a real asset too. We were visiting family over the Christmas break and our staying here met all our requirements. We are delighted to have found this B and B and have already booked two further visits later in the year, for other family celebrations! Well done and thank you very much!

Lovely modern hotel. Tastefully decorated. Lovely comfortable bed, lovely smooth sheets and pillow cases. Breakfast was good, full English, toast, coffee etc. Judith made us feel very welcome. Lift to 1st and 2nd floors. Nice big room with adjoining lounge. Close to town and many shops. Short walk to the seafront. You can bring food or order a takeaway. All round an excellent hotel.

My wife and I stayed here for just one night.
On arrival we were told we didn't have breakfast included my wife thought we did but after a long drive couldn't not be bothered to get the lap top out and look for an email.
Agreed to pay extra for breakfast £7.50 each even for my children 5 and 7...... way too expensive for what you get and child's price the same as adult?... really not child friendly?
Room was ok hot but ok.... telly very temperamental as you will see from other reviews but not too big a issue,
Room was very very dusty and under the beds had toe nails. Toilet had other people's hair yuk.....
Tea and coffee no milk....
breakfast was funny my 5 year old daughter has up syndrome otherwise known as Down's syndrome and the waitress was a lovely lady and was trying to make conversation but put her foot in it by saying "my friend has one like that" we did have a chuckle bless her.
Free Parking is great but some white van man parked over the entrance so very hard to get in and out with a 4x4.
In short pros parking nice size room location very close to beach
Con of a breakfast child's size child's price
Dust the rooms Hoover under the beds
And someone else's hair is a no no
Park the white van better think this was the man fixing the lift.
Be normal don't worry about children with special needs they are just children she is just our tigs not one of "them"

Booked this months ago through a booking company. The price was very reasonable as it included breakfast and parking. Just spent one night so that I could go to a show at the Congress theatre. Nice to be given a single room that wasn't at the top of the building. Though it was a single room it was very comfortable and clean. Cable tv which I couldn't get to work even though I followed the instructions LOTS of times. Kept getting a 'Loose Cable' message which I couldn't rectify and although I went downstairs twice, there was no one on reception to ask. Following morning went into the dining room and the girl immediately asked me if I wanted toast, even before I had sat at a table. I was told to ''sit anywhere'', which I did. After sitting there for several minutes the girl asked me if I would like to order and when I told her I didn't have a menu she replied that it was all up on the board above the counter. I went to look at it and decided on a ham omelette, which hen it came was beautiful and plenty of it. I asked if I could have some tea and the same girl told me it was around the corner and I could help myself, but kindly as my food was there, got it for me. It would have been nice to have been told of the dining arrangements when I entered the restaurant. Over all I had a nice stay.

My wife and I stayed just the one night as we were going t the Congress to see a show and I do not like night driving now so we stay the night and travel back I daylight the next day. We use the Sheldon as the price is very reasonable, you have the free use of the carpark. We will in future book direct rather than use a booking agent as with the hotel I think you get a better deal but also your booking will include breakfast (which is excellent) which booking agents do not include. I had the best nights sleep I have had for a very long time.
Thank you very much.

Our room was absolutely lovely. Large double bed, roll top bath, lots of towels etc.
Another big bonus is the off street parking. For those of you who regularly visit Eastbourne you will know how important this is. Nothing worse than searching for parking after a long drive. The breakfast was good, although not as warm as my wife would have liked. All in all good value.

Stayed here for one night at the start of August, although we were only in the room for about 8 hours. The room was a very good size, facilities and location are perfect. Parking is also free which is a bonus in the area, did not have breakfast due to time restraints but it looked and smelt good!

On arrival was very happy to see parking available. My car is big so found it hard to actually get space for it, hubby managed to! Thankfully :)
Hotel itself was lovely and clean with great service. The room was very big and the beds were very very comfy :)
the children were very happy with the size of the bath :)
TV was great for children whilst mummy and daddy were getting ready :)
Breakfast was very nice and the ladies who were working were so friendly and helpful, full of smiles :)
the tea in room was not very nice but the coffee and hot chocolate were a great hit with us!!!
Close to the town and beach but quietly situated away from noise!
Thankyou for a great stay!!! Happy mummy and daddy and two children :)

We had a lovely room everything we needed. It was in a quiet zone which we didn't know when we booked. It certainly was except for the early morning call of sea gulls😀
The room was lovely and big, no problem connecting to wi fi. Bed was very comfy.
Great having off road parking.
All were very friendly and gave you a great welcome. Many thanks for a very enjoyable stay

We had Room 15 which was a large room, with bath and walkin shower within the bedroom area. There was a fridge stocked with fresh milk, water and orange juice, there was also a tray with fresh fruit, biscuits and cakes. The toiletries was lovely. For breakfast you could have just about anything and it was delicious. Lovely hosts and very helpful. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Not all bad but I think the budget room was over priced at £105. You could not swing a cat in it and it felt more like a single room as was very cramped and the shower was naff. The lift was also not working. Compared to many 4* hotels we have stayed in in Eastbourne, this hotel is in my opinion not worthy of a 4*. Not all bad though, the breakfast was lovely and people friendly and good location but as I say was definitely not worth the money and free parking. If you just want a quick stay over and aren't fussy then fine but still not worth the money we paid.

After spending 10 days walking from Winchester to Eastbourne, we were ready for some comforting....and we got it at The Sheldon! This little family- owned jewel, where we stayed two delightful nights, gave us a great room, wonderful English breakfasts, a helping hand when we needed to find a self-service laundry to wash our hiking clothes, and a great central location from whence to explore seaside Eastbourne.
We loved our stay here and give them a 9.0 rating!
