Have just stayed two nights and was very satisfied. Our room was very spacious, with a small sofa and chair and we had everything we needed. The owners were helpful, it had its own car park, was very close to both the sea and the town and the home cooked breakfast was delicious and elegantly served.

The Sheldon is well stitauted for the theates,, the twon and the beach ... being about equal distance and not too far from them all.
Few town centre establishments in Eastbourne have parking, the Sheldon has plenty. What a great start to know that you can park on site but the car is safe for the duration of your stay.
Our room on the lower ground floor was very spacious, double the size of many a hotel, with an en-suite bathroom with both bath & shower.
The room was well furnished and clean, and the bed was extra large (2 singles joined together).
Everything was efficiently organised with clear instructions for TV and Internet use.
This B&B would have scored 5, but for a couple of breakfast points. The waitresses tended to let the coffee run out, before putting another on to brew, leading to a wait and queues. And, the full English breakfast whilst well presented had items each day which were not as hot as we would have liked.

This was our second stay here after first staying in 2014 just after the owners had taken over. It is quite clear that the owners have invested heavily in up grading the building on all floors. Including some areas which are not visible to the guests.
We stayed in room 15 which over looked the rear of the building. This was spacious, light and modern. The breakfast was just as good as last time, the young ladies serving were very polite. Good choice of continental or full english breakfast served between 08.00 - 09.30.
As many other reviews have stated this B & B is ideally located for the sea front, shops and restaurants. And of course on site parking.
We will be back again sooner than another 4 years. Good luck to the owners moving forward in their business.

Stayed here for one night and was really impressed. Friendly owners, off road parking and a huge room. Really nice bathroom too. Breakfast had good choice and was served really quickly. Will definitely return here.

We stayed for two nights in a twin room and were absolutely delighted with it. Our biggest need was for parking and the rare private car park was brilliant.
Our room was large, bright, airy, and had plenty of storage space; they really have thought of everything. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well. Breakfast was amazing; freshly and beautifully cooked and of generous proportions.
Sadly there was no-one around when we left (in fact we hardly saw anyone other than check-in and ordering breakfast) so we were unable to thank them for a wonderful stay. We do travel to Eastbourne every now and then and this will definitely be my first choice in future.
Of particular interest was the provision for a variety of special requirements - social, dietary and health. On this occasion we had none but having an autistic daughter with other health issues I was very impressed and would have no hesitation bringing her to stay here if she were travelling with me in future.

We booked one night online at The Sheldon B&B. It looked good from the photographs & information provided from their own website. Particularly their own car park which was a bonus for us.
Everything was confirmed & our special request acknowledged as my husband has coeliac disease so food must be gluten free.
We received a warm welcome & headed to our room. Which was very spacious, clean & light.
Later we headed out for dinner to a restaurant which was recommended by them & armed with their passport to the local area (a brilliant idea!) which gave us a 10% discount as well as a detailing the places that cater for gluten free food.
We chose The Pomodoro E Mozzarella which proved to be a great choice - so thank you - we had a delicious meal in this delightfully busy & popular Italian restaurant situated very close to the B&B.
We had a very comfortable & an excellent nights sleep. Breakfast was tasty & the gluten free sausages & toast were very good. We asked about the toast bags which we hadn’t seen before & were told where we could buy them for our own use. Such a clever idea for toasting the gluten free bread!
Really enjoyed our stay at The Shelton B&B & we will definitely return when we next visit Eastbourne. Such a great find & we thoroughly recommend a stay there.
Thank you - see you again soon!

I'm not a fan of those B & Bs which stuff a just a bed and minimal storage area in a tiny room and expect you to have a comfortable stay. I'm delighted to say therefore The Sheldon has extremely spacious rooms, plenty of storage space, and in addition to the comfortable large double bed had a chair and a small double sofa - which made reading before going to bed a pleasure rather than a chore. In addition there was a large bathroom with roll top bath. I should, however, mention a minor issue. The room has two sash windows - one which couldn't be opened at all (stuck fast & handle removed) and the second by only three or four inches. Not an issue at this time of year but maybe in the height of summer.
As others have mentioned:
- Helpful staff
- Use of microwave and fridge
- Great breakfast (bar the coffee which is in serious need of improvement!)
- Large car park
- Free wifi
Overall a great place to stay and I have no hesitation in recommending and I will return.

Me and my Partner went to Eastbourne for a Valentines Weekend away. The room was vast and comfy. Its was the sort of room you could really relax in. The breakfast was very nice and we were waited on most efficiently. The staff were friendly and welcoming and even recommended a way my partner could cure his cough problem. The weather was ghastly but that can't be blamed on the hotel but a real happy stay which will be a first choice next time I go to Eastbourne. Plus my boyfriend is scottish, so everyone got along.

Stayed overnight on 7th February. Building is beautiful 5 storey house with high ceilings etc. A lovely period piece in best area of Eastbourne. Room was huge and very comfortable. Breakfast fantastic. What also makes the Sheldon special is its car park. On street parking in the area is very limited. Loved the place and will use again if we visit Eastbourne.

Booked one night over Xmas as part of our visiting friends in England and chose it because it was cheaper than most other hotels in the area, didn't expect much for the price but oh were we really surprised, what a great place, great location, huge rooms and comfortable beds and to top it all off a really nice breakfast. Also friendly and efficient staff, AND free parking. It's now firmly top of our list for places to stay if we come back to Eastbourne or even the surrounding area.

We spent a lovely weekend here, the room was spacious and comfortable. Fridge was a welcome bonus, so was the facility to use the dining room for food brought or ordered in. Nothing was too much trouble and our gluten intolerance was not a problem. Judith was very lovely and friendly and made us feel at home. Will definitely be returning.

I don't want to state specifically what it is that they went the extra mile on as it's not something I think they would usually do but we would have missed out on 'something' to which they bent the rules in order for us to still benefit from. In general, they were utterly pleasant and highly recommend a stay here.

Just had a great night at the beautiful Sheldon B&B. I can not fault the lovely accommodation and great hosts. Our bedroom had a beautiful roll topped bath in the room and a separate shower. There was even a cream tea in the fridge, just wish we had room to have enjoyed the lovely looking scones. Another great touch, was the fresh milk available in the fridge, which was such a nice change to the plastic milk you normally get. And to top it all, there were two bag of toiletries for us to enjoy. All in all, the little finishing touches, great decor, friendly hosts plus your own parking space means we will be returning to this little gem again and again. I have no hesitation in recommending this B&B, you really won't be disappointed.

Booked this hotel because it was just a 3 minute walk from the Devonshire Park Theatre and only about 100m from the promenade. Friendly owner and staff. Room comfortable with bay window and almost a view of the sea! Small 2 seater settee and a chair in the room plus a very comfortable bed. En suite was compact but functional. Good choice breakfast menu. Would happily stay here again.

We have just spent a very pleasant, relaxing night at the Sheldon. The room was very clean and comfortable and breakfast great, there are so many healthy options on offer as well as standard and any special requirements can be catered for. Judith and Greg have thought of every little detail and are very friendly welcoming couple. Couldn't fault it.

I had booked 1 night in a budget room through booking.com for my wife and I, when we arrived the friendly chap upgraded us to room 28.
I cannot fault anything about our stay. Our room had a roll top bath, great toiletries and a good tea and coffee tray. The room was spotless and lovely and quiet with a big comfortable bed that we took advantage of quite a few times (apologies to the couple next door).
Breakfast was great, good quality with perfect poached eggs and fresh coffee.
We would not hesitate to book again.

I have been here several times & NEVER been disappointed!! Judy & Greg are wonderful hosts & having serious mental health issues but very well as well as Asperger syndrome they truly go the second mile for me!! They are true stars plus ALL the other staff, ⭐️⭐️⭐️!! The cooked breakfast 🍳 are delicious 😋 I have no recommendation but if you want a caring service & quality first professionals, these are the best, & I never go anywhere
Else, I am not an expert but there is a great 👍 great India 🇮🇳 in town & very much Londoner's dish of 🥧 liquor & mash eels!! I did not have the eels to have that next time!! Full marks to for The Sheldon!!

My daughter and I have just returned from a three night stay at the Sheldon. We stayed in room 14 with twin beds. The room was very spacious with a beautiful bay window which let the light flood in and you could open the sides to let a lovely breeze in. The room was decorated in a modern style of creams and beige and had ample storage space and a couple of comfy chairs to sit in. There was a tray of coffees, tea, drinking chocolates and small biscuits in the room. The beds were so comfortable with lovely soft white linen and two super pillows. There was a tv and free wifi too. The bathroom had a bath with shower over the top. I took advantage of the free toiletries and had a lovely relaxing bath after a day of walking. The breakfasts were delicious with an ample selection of cereals, scrummy yoghurts, fruit and a selection of hot choices, definitely worth booking a breakfast, you will not get better! Judith was so friendly and helpful with all of our questions about buses and trips etc, nothing was too much trouble. We even were allowed to leave our cases until the evening of departure as we had a late train. The Sheldon is superbly located for the train station, beach and restaurants. Overall a wonderful stay at a super place. If you book you will not be disappointed. Reviewed by Jane Sambrooks.
