As always a very enjoyable stay. We were upgraded to a sea view room which was a delight. The old world atmosphere, friendliness of all staff and the excellence of the dining experience all added to the pleasure

We stayed for five nights and regretted having to leave. This hotel was everything we had hoped for. The staff were very professional yet maintained a very friendly demeanour. The room was large, warm and comfortable, and was serviced twice a day. The toiletries provided were of the highest order, and fresh bottles of water appeared in the room each day. Thank you Grand Hotel for your excellence!

I spent two very nice days at the Grand Hotel in Eastbourne. Well located, very good service and a very attractive building. The breakfast offered a good choice of dishes, as did the dinner menu in the Garden Restaurant.

A wonderful stay from start to finish. We were made to feel very welcome from the start. Our room was fantastic, I loved the sea view and also the quaint windows , love the fact they are not modern and double glazed and you can actually open them. Wonderful experience all over.

Absolutely beautiful hotel with excellent service. The staff were very welcoming and ensured that our stay exceeded our expectation. We were in a Junior Suite with enormous balcony which was amazing. Certainly be returning again soon.

I reviewed this hotel a few years ago and had a few reservations about it, so here’s a new review explaining why we now love The Grand.
Our teenaged children are at school in Eastbourne as boarders and so we occasionally want to stay a weekend down there with them. The Grand is the best place to stay in the town. It is a vast white stucco building facing the seafront with an extremely useful car park in the front. There is a very helpful man who meets you on arrival and parks your car for you. We have learned to ask for a room a few layers up from the most basic option and clearly ask for a large bed. This is vital as otherwise you can end up with a tiny little wooden double bed. A sea view is lovely but not as important as a good nights sleep so we have stopped worrying about asking for that.
What sets the Grand apart are the absolutely marvellous staff who go above and beyond and are always very kind and cheerful. We look forward to our evening cocktail poured by white gloved mixologists. It’s such a treat! The breakfast is an experience set out in the extraordinarily vast dining room. It is honestly like stepping back in time. The clientele are mainly very elderly and all are beautifully looked after by the wonderful staff. As middle aged people in our 40’s/50’s we feel like teenagers at The Grand.
I’d recommend The Grand to anyone needing a bit of R&R as the proximity to the beach is amazing as is easy access to breathtaking downland walks. We’ve yet to eat dinner the their smart refurbished restaurant as we tend to go out to a more informal local place with the kids - but it’s definitely on our list.
There is a small indoor pool and a well heated outdoor pool in the summer. I should also mention the afternoon tea which is definitely worth having. We once saw the amazing sight of a lady playing a violin accompanied by a small band all in 1920’s dress with about 100 people having afternoon tea on little tables around her.

Just spent one night away on a spa break at The Grand with some girlfriends. Our every need was met with warmth and grace and even though the leisure facilities were a little tired, the wonderful service more than made up for it. A beauty hotel offering real quality and charm. I can commend this hotel to everyone.

A grand old building with lovely public rooms. Service was timely, discreet and courteous at all times. Had dinner in the Garden Room and it was very good indeed. Felt guilty that I had not packed a jacket to wear as the food, setting and service marked it out as a little bit more than your normal dining out experience. We had booked a one night stay to be on the coast and so after loading up on the delicious breakfast on Sunday morning we did what we had come for and had a brisk walk along the prom to take the sea air. Struck lucky with the weather and it was beautiful. The only issues were that the mattress was too soft compared to our normal one so we did not have a great night's sleep and, secondly, it suffers like all 'old' hotels (by which I mean ones constructed before the days of gyms and spas being a nice little earner on the side) from having inadequate gym and pool facilities. Always going to be a problem when you have to shoehorn them into the spaces that you have available in such a delightful old building like this rather than having purpose built facilities like the ones I use in my local, and recently constructed, local hotel gym.All in all a very pleasant break away.

Stayed here with my mother for her 86th birthday and it was faultless. Impeccable service and such a great team who are obviously very well trained. I work in HR and I’m sure this is a company who values its people because there wasn’t even one person who let the side down, in terms of service, every detail was perfect. We had a family lunch on the Sunday which was also fabulous. We had a suite with a sea view and it was fine. I was supervised it didn’t have a separate shower (there was plenty of room for one) but maybe I’ve spent too long in the USA!

Stayed dye to an evening event. Room was big and very comfortable. Room service breakfast was 30 minutes late due to card not picked up and no paper delivered. The room was very nice but the marble surround on the basin was not rounded off and was quite sharp; knocked myself a few times.Overall the stat was very good and would recommend staying here.

Very courteous, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Seemed to second-guess our needs, as all good staff should. Lovely atmosphere. Clean and well appointed rooms - coffee/tea, tissues, etc, re-stocked without us having to ask. A great place to relax and forget the outside world.

The whole of our stay was wonderful. The Grand is one of the old style hotels which corset you from the time you enter the door until the time you leave. The porter who carries your bags gives you a comprehensive description of their facilities. When you are settled in your room Customer Care ring to see that you are comfortable and if there is anything you need. Each evening your bed is turned down pyjamas laid out, headlights on.The staff in the bar remember your drink. Breakfast is comprehensive and we'll prepared. Two restaurants with good menus, fair prices and an excellent wine list.

This hotel is amazing - whilst it is old and with that comes a few very minor problems the staff from those who greet you when you drive up to the chamber maids the management of Mr Webley who is very ably assisted by Mrs Smith and Mr Hill are superb

We were visiting for my wife’s birthday and have already booked next year and we are now so looking forward to Xmas & the New Year

Thanks again to all

Attentive, helpful staff and peaceful ambience made for a very relaxed and enjoyable lunch at The Grand. The food was tasty and freshly prepared, the service unhurried yet efficient. Tea was served in silver tea pots with offers to help pour if required. The guest we had brought along in her wheelchair felt totally at ease and access to the hotel and disabled toilet was very easy. We will definitely call in again.

Great location (definitely recommend the rooms with sea views), excellent food & comfy beds. It's an old building with very high ceilings but on a wet & windy day in November we found our room & all the public areas warm & cosy. The health club/spa facilities were very busy on the days we were there which is great for the hotel & proves it's popular but to enjoy more peace & quiet we ended up using the facilities v late in the evening. I think we may have just been unlucky but v noisy floorboards in the room above us & in areas of our room detracted from an otherwise quiet & relaxing environment.
