We recently had a group of friends and family together for a champagne family tea.
I’ve been here a couple of times before but not for a few years!
The afternoon tea is fabulous, delicious sandwiches, cute little quiches, gorgeous scones and an assortment of cakes. The choice of teas is enormous, so something to please everyone. Lovely surroundings, helpful staff and comfy chairs to flop back into when you’ve eaten your fill!
The champagne was very good, but it was served just moments after the tea was brought out, we did think we’d get the champagne before the tea. Not to worry, it still went down well.
Great venue for a special occasion or a little treat!

We booked the two for one night stay as a Christmas present to each other and had booked an executive room (104) which was very nice until the extraction fan on one of the adjacent rooms started up. It was fairly noisy during the day but we ignored it, but then at 2.30am it went off again and was like a pneumatic drill going off. After about 20 minutes I called down to reception and the night porter came to investigate. It was decided that we would have to change rooms as it was so noisy. We were originally offered inferior rooms to the one we had booked, but after a short while they came up with new keys to the suite just down the corridor. You can imagine at 3am this must have looked very amusing to anyone who saw us. We are very grateful to the staff for resolving the issues so promptly and at such a ridiculous time of night. Apart from that we had a fabulous stay and really enjoyed the evening meal. The pool area was very relaxing and I had a short massage which was very nice indeed. The staff were extremely attentive, especially Robert the concierge who always had a smile and remembered our names every time we spoke to him. The highlight for me was the absolutely adorable couple who come in to dance every Saturday evening, they were so sweet. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be coming back!

I booked 2 rooms for myself/partner and 2 friends who had recently turned 40. Upon arrival we were greeted with a professional yet warm and friendly welcoming. The service was impeccable and continued throughout our stay. The hotel is gorgeous in a Victorian antiquated sort of way and retains some of the splendour from a bygone era. The restaurants are beautiful with staff offering fantastic service with a smile. The food served to us in the Garden Restaurant was sublime and the buffet breakfast was extensive in choice. The girls had a facial in the Spa and stated how lovely it was and whilst this happened, the guys played snooker in the snooker room on 1 of 2 full size tables. Couldn't recommend highly enough and will most definitely return.

Been wanting to try this Hotel for a while; but could not justify the price (as I am quite tight, now that I pay my own bills and not the company :)). Got a good winter package deal for 2 nights BB in a superior room. The one proviso being; eating in the restaurant at least one of the nights. We really, really; enjoyed our stay, so comfortable and relaxing. Bar pricing is Park Lane; but hey why worry about that in such comfort. Food; not fantastic. However restaurant, and restaurant theatre worth paying for. Breakfast superb.

Very comfortable hotel. I only wonder there is no tooth brush supply. Otherwise it is 100% perfect. Will recommend to anyone.

I’ve been lucky enough to stay in some high end hotels all over the world & The Grand is easily up to it’s 5star rating. The service is effortlessly spot on. Several requests I made were dealt with without any drama. Staying in a really good hotel is always nice but this was really relaxing as well. The room, the food, the public areas & especially the staff were all faultless. I’m already planning to come back with the other half.

We spent a couple of nights between Christmas and the New Year. From arrival the service we received was outstanding; all staff welcoming and efficient. Our rooms were extremely comfortable and spotless whilst delicious meals served in beautiful surroundings. The excellent leisure facilities are a great addition. Overall we shall definitely return and look forward to it.

We stayed for a week in the quiet season. We had a lovely room with great views over the sea. The room was large and comfortable but when we arrived, we found no hangers in the room nor a frig - and had to phone down for both. A small point but irritating for all that and not what you'd expect for a room that's normally £400 a night.

We had breakfast there which was good enough but not outstanding. I ordered scrambled egg one morning and was delivered something more akin to an omlette which proved inedible. I was offered an alternative breakfast, but decided by then I was happy enough with toast!

We only had dinner there one evening as we found it too formal for our taste. The food was good and the wine choices were fine. What disappointed us was that there was nowhere to have a lighter more informal meal of an evening (unless we'd opted for to have sandwiches in the evening).

The staff were nearly all friendly and helpful and the porters were particularly helpful with luggage when we arrived. Rooms were efficiently serviced morning and evening.

We chose the hotel for its reputation and location, right on the seafront in Eastbourne We had a good stay and were looked after well but it wasn't exceptional. Our room - a suite - was comfortable and well positioned but the wifi was unreliable and the connection would regularly drop out after only a about 30 seconds. When I enquired about this at reception, they expressed surprise as a router was in our room. That said, the connection didn't improve the whole of our time there and that's really not good enough for a 5* hotel in a resort the size of Eastbourne!

We were looked after exceptionally well when we arrived but this standard dropped off throughout our stay and by the time we were leaving, no-one offered to help with our luggage which was a real disappointment.

Really attentive staff. Excellent care and attention throughout visit with little touches such as milk and cookies at bed time that made the trip for my younger family members. Great location. Maybe tired design but in a beautiful old building and all furnishings quality. Food and drinks somewhat expensive but as you may expect in a five star. Staff really made this trip special for our family.

We totally enjoyed our stay, from the moment we parked to the time we checked out. Staff were friendly. Room was perfect for our first anniversary. We would love to come back and will upgrade next time for a seaview.

A nice stay at our favourite hotel. The food was a little disappointing since last time though. The hotel was quiet and clean and nice and cosy - however still pricey for what you get. There have been some changes since our last visit

Not possible to fault this hotel on any grounds. Have stayed in Eastbourne many times over many years and nothing rivals The Grand for overall value for that special occasion. Will return when funds permit.

From the moment we arrived to departure, the service we received was excellent. We stayed in one of the Master suites, all of which are beautiful. The meal in the Garden restaurant on the first night of our stay was exceptional. Our dog was made very welcome too.

Good, apart from one or 2 issues with my room. The hotel has an ethos of good service and a high standard of care to guests and attention to detail in all that they set out to do. It is far removed from the economic, run and go, modern establishments that proliferate in this modern age.

please refer to comments in previous page. to sum up the night bar staff were rude and arrogant in questioning a guests integrity having paid a large sum of money for a room which was no better than a two star hotel,

We stayed for one night between Christmas and New Year in a deluxe inland room. The room was OK, but the decor was very dated and in need of refurbishment. The hotel is very much "grand", but "five star" is perhaps a stretch. The spa was OK, which included small heated indoor pool and steam room. Our evening meal, included in the package, was good...very traditional and nothing to complain about. Our two big complaints were:

1) being abruptly woken by the complimentary newspaper being thrown at our door (if we had known that would happen, we would have declined the offer) and

2) the service at breakfast...this was simply appalling. It must have taken 45 minutes between taking our order until the food was served. We were not the only guests to complain about this. We all had to chase the restaurant staff until it eventually arrived. We were very close to simply walking out and getting breakfast elsewhere.

We will probably stay elsewhere when we next visit Eastbourne.

Booked a three night break in November for new year's eve. Got there to be told the Seaview I had paid for was not available and had been given out to someone else manageress arrived and sorted the problem and we got a Seaview. Lots of people checking in as 2 coach parties had just arrived the lift kept breaking so was a bit manic. My partner and I decided to grab a drink at the bar and wait until the rush had gone. Got chatting to a nice group from Leeds the found drinks expensive but as we live in the south we found they cheap.Room was very basic but clean shower didn't have much pressure but water was nice and hot. That evening went down for a 3 course meal it was a bit unorganised and some people waited a long time for their food I found the meal ok. After we went downstairs for evening entertainment only annoying thing I found was coach parties had their meals downstairs so they had best tables. Next morning went for breakfast good choice and alot of it that evening new year's eve again very unorganised in restaurant and people waited along time to get food. We had Google the entertainment that was on that night and knew it was not going to go down well most people downstairs came up to lounge the band left and hotel arranged another act so all in all a good night. Summing up I think the hotel needs to act on mistakes made ie more staff better training but I had a great time met some amazing people and laughed loads. Some people were not very happy didn't like food room etc but for the money paid and what we got I thought it was very good value and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Would I go back for next new year yes I would as had a laugh

Stunning hotel capturing a bygone era in a beautiful seaside location. Staff work very hard to ensure you have a special stay. We had a minor issue with our reservation which was handled swiftly and efficiently by on of the excellent staff.

Most enjoyable. Enjoy "old fashioned" quality service from friendly staff. The food this year was particularly good whilst we thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment provided. We very much like to see so many familiar faces, both staff and guests.

From the moment we arrived till our departure three days later everything was perfect. The car was parked for us, all details of the stay were clearly explained and there was a wonderfully calm atmosphere throughout.
