Thoroughly enjoyable and would recommend. Food was excellent and all of the staff seemed very proud of their hotel and wanted to give good service. Only slight whinge was the non application of their dress code in the restaurants, which showed a lack of respect for fellow guests

We were very well looked after, & felt better for it.
We thought it would be nice if there was a quiet, sheltered, comfortable outside area one could sit comfortably in when the weather permitted. Easily accessed , and comfortable seating.

Overall a lovely stay! Guaranteed check-in is 3pm, we arrived at 10am as wanted to take advantage of the facilities so you would have thought the preparation of the room would have speeded up a bit. We still had to chase getting into the room gone 3.20 with no apology nor explanation. The spa facilities are not big enough for the size of the hotel. We were there on a spa weekend so the focus was on trying to relax but there were not enough loungers/beds nor chairs to accommodate everyone who wanted to use it, The hotel also has its own members who use the leisure facilities and the staff seemed more attentive to those people than weekend guests.
The dining experience in The Mirabelle Restaurant was outstanding; staff were professional, the food was a delight and the décor and ambience was overall excellent. This was the best night!
The hotel is delightful and well worth a visit.

A truly relaxing and enjoyable experience. Luxurious accommodation, beautifully appointed, charming, helpful and discreet staff. The whole atmosphere just seems so relaxed, things just happen here, and you hardly notice. For those, like us, on a modest income, this hotel is a real treat for that special occasion.

My boyfriend & I booked The Grand as a special treat and we were not disappointed, we had the most wonderful 2 night stay in a double deluxe room. Such a comfortable room, light & airy, clean & cosy. The bed gave us a very good nights sleep and all the facilities in the room made our stay perfect. It was peaceful and most relaxing. All the staff were most attentive but also very capable of balancing attentiveness with leaving us be, totally spot on. We ate in for breakfast on one of the mornings and took afternoon tea in the lounge also... What an experience, all a wonderful stay, couldn’t fault anything at all, honestly.

The service was excellent from beginning to end. The food in the fine dining restaurant could have been better. The wine list was very comprehensive. Although very comfortable, the delux room was quite standard.

Stayed for one night. Will definitely return and will recommend the hotel to others.
Downside was that the bedroom was too warm at night, making sleep a problem. Tried to open window, but it was too high and too difficult.

Pleasant stay and would recommend just a little attention to detail was missed here and there. Spa area needs to be extended, not enough space to accommodate ie beds/chairs around indoor pool area. Rooms are very nice and can’t fault cleanliness

The Grand promises and delivers a traditional, high quality hotel experience. The service is excellent, with staff who are friendly, impeccably polite and knowledgeable. The grandeur of the building impresses and the breakfasts are not to be missed.

Lovely couple of nights. Special treat as very expensive. Only disadvantage for us were the few steps down to the swimming pool which would be extremely difficult for anyone disabled/with mobility problems. Great hotel with lovely food

My wife an I went for an anniversary break to The Grand staff very friendly and couldn’t do enough for you the indoor pool was pleasant albeit a tad hot The Grand is a 5 star luxury hotel but there are cracks the tables in dining rooms tops are loose and wobbly tea pots are not very clean badly stained on the inside rooms are standard and not very luxurious dust on top of wardrobe and no air conditioning only a fan car park at front of hotel is not too big had to park in road not the sort of thing you expect from a 5 star hotel one last thing we could not fault the service or the food

Excellent service and surroundings. Fabulous breakfast. Enjoyed room service - a real treat. The porters were very friendly and did a great job parking our car and bringing it to entrance for us. Loved have coffee in the lounge and cream tea in the afternoon.

Catering let the standard down from overall 5 stars to only 4.
Additional items ordered with Sunday breakfast - poached egg arrived after 20 mins and kidneys arrived ten mins after we had finished and were well over cooked.
Special meal in Garden Restaurant on Monday evening was not worthy by a long way from the price tag of £150 for two courses and a bottle of wine for the two of us. Huge fillet steak with little flavour surrounded by undercooked veg including supposedly roasted potatoes and carrots which my wife has declined. The waiter commented that they were part of the vegetable medley, so? The crepe suzettes had the liquids virtually boiled away leaving an inadequate sauce for the poor crepes. No way could we recommend to others.

This is a very special hotel that offers the best standards in a lovely location. Both restaurants are good but the Mirabelle offers great food and a wonderful ambiance. The lounge is a great place to take in the sea view with a glass of something.

Wonderful room and excellent location.
Breakfast was average and on Sunday morning the service was a bit slow (maybe understaffed?). Wifi in room almost non-existing.
Very grand atmosphere and friendly staff

Without being outdated, the hotel is able to maintain its historical essence. The staff treats you like royalty, they make you feel special. All smiles. Love the outfits the staff wear, they are very up to date and look professional. Gym could use some new machines but overall the facilities were nice. I was amazed by the "swimsuit dryer", never seen anything like that before.

The Grand hotel certainly lives up to its name! It was one of the most impressive hotels I’ve stayed in. We paid only £99 each for overnight + 1 express treatment each - brill value for money! The staff were so welcoming and couldn’t help you enough. There were concierges who were more than willing to offer assistance at all times. I had a back massage with Alice, and I must say it’s probably the best massage I’ve ever had. The spa itself was very welcoming and provided towels. Robes and slippers are provided in your room and the lift goes straight down to the spa so you’re not in any public places in a robe. Would definitely recommend for a little get away. I’d probably book a longer treatment next time though!
