Very friendly and hospitable staff from the moment we pulled into the driveway. Every person we spoke to had a smile and no request was a problem. Breakfast and dinner in the Garden Restaurant were great too.

While the hotel and spa could do with some modernization, the facilities were good and very comfortable beds.

From our walk around town this certainly seemed to be the best place to stay in town.

Thank you for a brilliant stay. It was truly 5 star, the staff are clearly very well trained. The surroundings are beautiful and the hotel keeps its charm as if it was built for today. Looking forward to another stay soon.

Fantastic stay in this historic hotel where service is clearly their number one goal. Excellent facilities, with a nice health club/spa. The Mirabella is a wonderful restaurant within the hotel, great evening meal menu and very polite and friendly staff, and the head waiter (23 yrs in the hotel) was brilliant. Breakfast in the Garden restaurant was lovely. Felt like stepping back in time, were the customer is paramount! Well done guys.

After staying in the standard box rooms of Hilton/Holiday Inn etc. I could not resist booking a room in such a ‘grand’ hotel, nearly 150 years old and representing the splendour of the colonial era. Yes, the floorboards creaked a little, the hot tap ‘shuddered’ when I turned it on and the lighting was a bit dim in the room. But would I change a thing? Of course not, this is how you would expect it to be. The hotel boasts numerous public rooms, staircases you can actually walk up & down and a nice garden. I used the more modern gym and sauna and found them perfectly adequate. The breakfast was superb and not to be missed, where else would you still get kippers served! The staff were numerous, attentive and polite. Would I stay here again? Of course.

What a fantastic place ,so grand and yet so comfortable, lovely staff so helpful and courteous.
We were at a 50th wedding celebration and it was all handled beautifully, from the pre lunch drinks to the elegantly decorated tables and the beautifully presented food .
This cellebration was so beautifully executed the staff were all well trained and conducted themselves well, not batting an eyelid when asked for out of the ordinary requests and presenting the meal in unison was so nice ,well done it was a lovely day .

Another perfect visit to this beautiful hotel with friends for an early birthday treat. Stayed on the 2 night autumn package which included dinner each night in the garden restaurant and a voucher for a cocktail. We opted to eat in the Mirabelle restaurant on the Saturday at a nominal extra cost which was well worth it. The maitre’d was superb along with the rest of his staff and the food delicious. Buffet breakfast was of a high standard and very tasty.
We spent most of Saturday in our spacious suite just chatting or drinking coffee in the lounge areas as the weather was so wet and windy it was not the time to venture out. A lovely relaxing weekend.
I have to mention the staff who are so friendly ,knowledgeable, and definitely not stuffy. Everyone without fail had a smile on their face and a willingness to please. I would whole heartedly recommend this hotel and cannot wait to return.

Beautiful hotel and the staff were simply amazing. The spa was excellent and the treatments spectacular couldn’t rate it any higher. My only grumble was the beds and pillows were far to soft and unfortunately I didn’t get much sleep but that’s personal preference so next time I will bring my own pillow I will definitely be returning.

We Stayed at the Grand to celebrate a birthday. The hotel was lovely. The staff so helpful, polite. They could not do enough to assist. It was a very nice place to stay. I will return and recommend to anyone.
Little extra touches such as birthday card from the staff, and an unexpected upgrade made it a very memorable experience. I cannot fault it.

I’ve wanted to visit this hotel for a long time having been to there hotel in East Grinsted. Ashdown Park. It was breathtaking and the staff were great and really hospitable. The doer men were lovely. We used the snooker room, swimming bath and there’s a great outdoor pool although we didn’t try it. It was heated.

The building, the furnishings and the staff are something of a quality seldom seen today. A great setting for a place of refreshment and renewal. This was a break prior to surgery, and Eastbourne is well known to us and we have a number of friends who live there. One shall need, a bright reading light.

The Grand Hotel definitely has the wow factor as you walk in and the staff are amazing at making you feel welcome with their kindness and professionalism. The rooms are spacious and clean, with all the amenities you would expect from a 5* hotel. At the time of my visit, there were certain areas of the hotel undergoing refurbishment, so I think that the management is aware of the need to refresh and renew the interiors. The only thing that stood out during my visit was how old and sad in a way the health suite was. Everything there needs an urgent refurbishment (especially the steam room) to match the elegance of the hotel. With that aside, the food was delicious and the whole stay was a truly relaxing experience, away from the big city.

Good stay and good service but the rooms particularly the bathroom didn’t feel luxurious

The Grand Hotel Eastbourne is a very dramatic looking hotel, which has a prime position on the Eastbourne seafront. However, it is quite dated and tired. Our bed was too soft and the room was spartan.

The matress was very soft and we now have back aches. The breakfast was fantastic. The evening meals are expensive. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room i feel was ok for a deluxe, it was nothing special.

For a family looking to be pampered this was an easy choice. The indoor and outdoor pools meant the children were more than happy for hours.I managed to sneak away from the rest of the family to the lounge for a quite drink before dinner...excellent. It was a nice touch to be asked name rather than room number. Nothing was so much trouble and the evening food was a delight with a live pianist. Breakfast has a buffet option or you can order from the waiter, this was the only point I feel the staff were less attentive.
Great stay and a special treat, will definitely return in the future.

Very nice high class hotel, with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, Spa, two restaurants and friendly staff, within around a 20 to 30 minute walk from the town, depending on how fit you are. Right by the front, by the sea along King Edwards Parade, with many rooms having excellent sea views.

It is a really historical one, all interiors are old and even smell that old. Composer Claud Debussy wrote La Mer here, there is a room number 200 where he stayed called after his name. Room was spacious and tidy.

Indoor pool is small but cozy and beautiful. There are jacuzi, steam room. Outdoor pool is larger and amazing! Water warm, you can swim even in winter! I had massage treatment, and was satisfied, express 25 min costed about 35 pounds. Gym is smaller than I expected, had very basic gear. Among entertainment you can play russian snooker for free. There is also a children room.

Breakfast is amazing! British style, fantastic crunchy bacon and toasts! There are 2 restaurants, both are fine dining, so if you want have lunch and dinner, better preorder that, otherwise you will end up spending 40 pounds per person.

Only issue, because it is a Victorian historical hotel, management decided to kill its wifi. It is simply not working on purpose in order make you deep dive into this historical atmosphere. I like to watch movies online and do some work, but not here. However I could get free DVD player from reception and watch a movie!

We have stayed a number of times at The Grand, because we enjoy its comfort, welcome and the sense of being a place that time forgot! It is generous in its size, and facilities and the staff are unanimously welcoming and helpful. The Mirabelle restaurant is extremely good with an imaginative menu and beautiful environment.

I chose the Grand Hotel, for a recent business trip to Eastbourne, based on favourable online reviews. The hotel offers an imposing entrance and a note of intrigue when one pulls in to the sweeping drive from the seafront. The moment I stepped into the entrance hall there was a sense of colonial grandeur! All the staff (from doorman to receptionist to restaurant staff) were polite and helpful. There is clearly an emphasis on the customer experience - all the staff I came into contact with referred to me by name - no mean feat in a hotel of this size! My room was spacious, clean and quiet, and the bed was very comfortable (something that is often not the case in other hotels). The food was excellent - dinner in the Mirabelle restaurant, which was served in good time, beautifully presented and tasted delicious. There was also a comprehensive choice of wines and knowledgable staff to give advice on pairings. Breakfast is described as a 'buffet' which sells the experience short - there is almost everything once could wish for in terms of options, the only items not were those that needed to be cooked fresh (poached eggs, etc.). Overall, albeit I felt like I was on the set of a period drama, it was a solid 5-star stay.

What a lovely hotel when you first walk in you're first thought is wow lovely friendly staff lovely food we had an issue with room the mattress was too soft there was also an extension lead operating kettle and coffee machine and we were woken up at4 o'clock and 7o'clock by a delivery and glass collection lorry we felt that spoilt our stay we spoke to duty manager she did apologize and offered us an upgrade on next visit really didn't expect that in a 5 star hotel so my advice is to ask for a quiet room or upgrade
