We went for afternoon tea which was fantastic.
The hotel is like stepping back into a bygone era when service and opulence were the norm.

We had afternoon tea a couple of months ago which was excellent and because of that we booked dinner at the Garden Grill last Saturday evening. The food was very good but the service was mediocre. We had a wrong dish served, the wrong dessert wines were brought to the table (the waitress asking if we were absolutely certain we wanted the banyuls) and the salt and pepper didn't work. Also when we arrived at the hotel there was no greeting and we had to ask someone to take our coats. All small things but bearing in mind this is a 5 star hotel it was disappointing.

Beautiful, traditional, hotel, with welcoming staff in every part of it.
My friend and I booked a stay at the Grand which included breakfast and £90 towards dinner.
Our double room was much larger than you'd get at a regular chain hotel or B&B, with two single beds, a dresser, two armchairs, a table, and another space near the door with a large mirror.
We arrived early and asked the reception team if we could park and return. This was not an issue although we hadn't prebooked. Anyone who visits the UK coast knows how expensive that typically is. The hotel did t charge us.
After a walk, we returned at about 2 pm and received a call to let us know our room was available so we unpacked and headed to the spa. There is not much to write about there, a very small pool, jacuzzi and steam room. Surprisingly small given the size of the hotel, so I wouldn't consider the Grand for a spa day.
For dinner, we went to the Garden Restaurant, which is where the breakfast is also served. Drinks aren't included in the £90, so we didn't have much to pay on top of our dinner. We opted for burgers as its not something we both typically eat, and had a chocolate dessert and the dessert of the day, which was a white chocolate trifle. A bit heavy for someone without a sweet tooth, but generous!
The breakfast was continental at the buffet and everything else to order. All delicious food, and again, the service is second to none. Martyn worked both dinner and breakfast, and the server with the red bob also took care of us. After check out, we went for another walk and collected the car at 12pm.
All in all, highly recommend the Grand. It has all the traditional touches of a classic hotel.

Sea front grand Victorian hotel; excellent service. We ate in the Restaurant, Mirabelleon our first night. Lovely food; small portions and pricy ,especially the wine. But we had a lovely time and the staff are top class.

We had a great 1-night stay in March 2025. The service from the staff was impeccable and we were made to feel very welcome. The room was clean and tidy, and functional with a very large bathroom. The included amenities (indoor pool, steam room, jacuzzi) and complimentary breakfast was outstanding. We would definitely stay again.

Came here for a weekend getaway with my husband and a few friends. We paid extra upon arrival for a room upgrade.

Pros: the valet was amazing, friendly and helpful. The hotel has a convenient location with sea views and proximity to the seven sisters walk. Overall positive experience

Cons: it’s just not a 5 star hotel, while it is certainly grand, it was more of a 3 star experience from general upkeep and offerings. The breakfast was not very good and the amenities are outdated.

Regretfully, for the rating of the hotel and the price, the quality overall was disappointing.
Breakfast cooked was not hot. Wait time between courses on one night was lengthy. Needed more staff to cope better.

The hotel decoration was beautiful and very clean. The room was perfect and when we had an issue the staff were very efficient and moved us to a new room. The hotel was very quiet except for a bit of noise during one day when scaffolding was being erected outside the new room we were in, this was due to repairs taking place so couldn’t be helped. We had a superb breakfast each morning with lots of choice.

Superb luxury hotel. Excellent food, great staff and an easy car park. There's a delightful real wood fire in the main lounge and even a snooker room downstairs.

I love this hotel. Old worldly charm on the sea front with a 5 star feel.
The service and the staff were so lovely and accommodating. Always greeting you with a smile. I felt they go out of their way to support you and I don’t feel you get that everywhere.
The hotel is huge, lots of places to hideaway if you want some space - I found a nice area to work.
Breakfast - they adjust the options to suit you which is great as I have my querks and need to make sure I eat enough protein and veg at breakfast. I would suggest they offer some lactose free dairy options at breakfast.
Spa & gym - there was a nice size indoor pool, with a great temp. The water didn’t sting my eyes which makes a huge change from normal pools and it didn’t feel so chloriny - I believe. The gym area was good, nice range of equipment and enough space to do my own yoga routine. The staff there were really helpful. Changing rooms were a bit dated but fine. I also used the treatment rooms and the lady was so lovely and had a relaxing treatment.
Dining / bar / lounge - again really accommodating staff. I fancied something sweet and they went out of their way to see how they could help me.
One negative - it was too warm for me inside. But that could also be my menopause - i can’t too much heat anymore.

Beautiful classic hotel that is grand in all aspects not just name. Aside from the opulent surroundings, the service was excellent - responsive and helpful staff. The breakfast (the only meal I had at the hotel) was absolutely outstanding. Super comfortable bed and room also - two nights of great sleep even though I don't normally sleep well away from home. Will be back with the whole family!

We used the spa facilities. Very dated and in a neglected state, such a shame, Needs serious investment as it’s been left in the 80’s.
The Mirabelle restaurant however certainly made up for the disappointment with the spa. The food speaks for itself. The service was as should be in the restaurant. I cannot recommend it enough and we will be back.
