I visited their outside terrace overlooking the sea for morning and afternoon coffee on several occasions during a family visit to the area. Staff and service were wonderful, young and very friendly. They allowed us to bring our dog and even provided broken biscuits for her. Which I thought was a nice touch. Great place to people watch and just relax and enjoy the views.

It must be said, this hotel is good. However, from our experience it frustratingly seems like it could be better.

The staff in the welcome desk were very good. Polite, welcoming and not too formal. The entrance hall is also quite nice.

However, I found our room to be no better than average. Veering on the small side, the bed wasn't particularly comfortable, and there wasn't really anything to make it stand out as top quality. I would imagine the sea view rooms are very nice, but only due to the excellent location along the seafront.

The bathroom was almost as big as the bedroom itself, and looked OK. The shower was terrible. No better than a trickle.

In terms of other things, the bar is very nice. The hotel clearly has a lot of history, and it's very nice that they are proud of this. I really enjoyed having a look at the various memorabilia in the bar area. The bar and restaurant also benefit from a lovely sea front view.

The breakfast was good. I did find it odd that everything had to be ordered though, and cereal, fruit, yogurts, etc. were not available as a buffet. Particularly when you have to order an orange juice as a "starter" according to the waiting staff and menu.

I get the impression The Langham was an excellent hotel, and it does have that feeling about it. However, frustratingly, it doesn't deliver the excellence of its apparent grandeur.

We stayed Friday to Sunday for a ladies night weekend, very small reception and bar areas. Bedrooms very nice and we had a lovely sea view room. Very clean. We had a set menu on the Friday evening with the option of extras at a price, unfortualey for all concerned kitchen, staff and paying guests too many extras were ordered and the kitchen couldn't cope and the staff far too young to explain to us guests still waiting for meals to me delivered while the other half of the tables had already eaten!. After dinner drinks unfortualey weren't much better as again staff too young to know which Brandy was ordered and service wasn't very good.
Food and choice of meals very good. Staff friendly but very young.
Parking very restricted . Short walk to town centre and pier.

The hotel was highly recommended by one of our group of 14 golfers. We stayed for 3 nights from 12th June. It was our 8th golf tour to the South coast, first time at this hotel. The Langham was undisputedly the best hotel we've stayed at. Reception efficiency and courtesy was first class. Rooms were comfortable, well appointed and clean. The menu choice in the restaurant was first rate as was the quantity and quality of the food. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, friendly and polite. An added bonus was the location of the hotel right on the sea from with ample opportunity to walk along and access the town. The hotel is family owned and run and they do a first class job. We'll definitely be going back.

Having never been to Eastbourne before we were looking forward to our weekend here.
I had booked a private parking space before arrival at the rear of the hotel prior to arrival for £7 per day knowing that there were going to be 100+ people that weekend and parking would be difficult.
We arrived about 6pm and could park right outside the hotel for 20 mins whilst checking in and getting our luggage from the car. The hotel is a typical seaside hotel but is very clean and presentable. Check in was very simple and efficient.
We had a room on the 2nd floor with a sea view and we were very happy with it. It was clean, light and airy and had a nice en suite with a huge walk in shower. There were also tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the room along with a pack of two biscuits. On arrival there was not any bottled water in our room but we did get some once our room was made up on the Saturday morning.
Friday evening we had a three course meal in the Langham restaurant but alas it seemed as though they could not cope with 100+ people all dining at once. The main problem was the men, firstly there were a lot of choices which meant the kitchen would be going flat out to prepare all the varied orders coming through but the odd part was that there were quite a lot of items on the menu that you had to pay extra for, I had mussels for starters which was £2.50 more then I had cod and chips for mains which was another £5.
There were quite a few unhappy people having to wait so long for their meals but when the food arrived it was very good quality and plenty of it. My piece of cod was huge. Please note the above only refers to large parties all dining at once. I have no doubt that if it was just the wife and I having a dinner the service would have been fine.
The next morning we sat down to breakfast which once again there was plenty to choose from and obviously the staff had been told to make sure there were no delays etc. The full English breakfast was very nice and the sausage and bacon was very tasty. There was plenty of tea, coffee and toast. All in all the breakfast was excellent.
All in all the hotel is very well looked after/maintained and when speaking to the owner, Neil, they have a long term itinerary of constant refurbishment. There is also a lift in this hotel which is a bonus as there were a lot of elderly/immobile people at the hotel during the weekend.
My wife and I enjoyed out stay very much there and hopefully will return next year. Of course when you have a large party of 100+ staying over the weekend you cannot please everyone but this hotel is very well run and managed and there are plenty of helpful, kind and courteous staff there.
PS when you purchase a coffee from the bar be it a cafetière, latte or cappuccino you get a large homemade shortcake biscuit or flapjack thrown in for free!

I visited on a weekend as I felt the need for some sea air. The Langham's location is great, right on the seafront, however the road in front is quite busy and noisy.
As I was by myself I was given a single room, which was like a cell. It was long and narrow. I could stand in the middle and touch both walls. I never understand why hotels think that because you are travelling alone you're happy to be cooped up in a shoe box.
It was a warm weekend but I couldn't find any aircon so I could either open the window to let some air in but then be subject to the noise of the road, or keep the window closed and perspire. Also, the floorboards in the corridors were really creaky, so everytime someone walked by the place creaked loudly like a haunted house in a Disney film.
Breakfast was good, the food was nice and it was table service, so no unsightly buffet scrum.
All in all, did the job, just about, but I probably won't return.

Arrived for 4 night stay as a couple on a package. We have stayed at this hotel several times on package with same company but usually for "Turkey and Tinsel". As always the hotel came up to our expectations. Room made up daily efficiently and discreetly. As half board breakfast and evening meal, both table service, generally service efficient but clear some staff under training. However they were courteous and efficient at all times. Food of usual high standard . Reception staff courteous. Luggage collected and taken to room on arrival and similarly collected from room on departure. Bar staff friendly and efficient. For the price we paid this is excellent value for money and we will return.

First time in Eastbourne and booked due to the excellent reviews. This independent hotel was of an excellent standard with a warm and caring service from the staff. Our room was of a moderate size and was very clean and modern, however no air conditioning but a fan is provided on request.
The restaurant was lovely and the set meal was very reasonably priced and you can pay for a supplement on selected dishes if you prefer.
An excellent hotel with such a professional and caring attitude to their guests which really is refreshing these days.
Worth a visit when in the area, if you can good to book a sea view, shame we didn't.

Stayed at The Langham for a Ladies Festival for two nights. The rooms were comfortable with plenty of toiletries, tea, coffee, bottled water and biscuits provided, along with a bathrobe hanging in the bathroom. The food was excellent, beautifully cooked and very well served. The staff can't do enough for you. Everyone was lovely, reception, restaurant and barstaff.

A special thank you to the gentleman on reception who returned my daughters doll she had left behind in the post. You have made her very happy.

Thank you again

Just spent a lovely weekend at the Langham Hotel in Eastbourne. What the hotel doesn't have in way of spa facilities etc. is more than compensated by the very efficient and friendly staff, comfortable bedrooms and lovely restaurant. The food was delicious and the menu varied. So nice to have waiter service for the breakfast too rather than a buffet style which most hotels now seem to provide as standard. Situated right on the sea front with a lovely outside seating area to enjoy a cup of coffee or a beer or wine and watch the world go by. Thanks to Neil and Wendy, the private owners of this hotel, for a truly lovely stay,

Just returned home after an excellent weekend break in the Amberley room. Located on the first floor conveniently near the lift we are pleased we chose the Amberley room. The room has very recently been refurbished and is the hotel's Junior Suite. We arrived about 7.30pm and was greeted by a friendly and helpful receptionist, we took dinner in the conservatory on the first night which was lovely to have overlooking the sea and very good value at £19.50 each for 3 courses. Free wi-fi is provided in all areas of the hotel and is a very good strong connection. Lovely hospitality tray in the room with very comfortable high quality choice of chairs in the window or sofa in the room to sit on. Bed was I believe what is referred to as an emperor size was absolutely huge! Breakfast the next morning was lovely and was nice to see a traditional breakfast served at your table rather than everyone squabbling over a buffet, I can report that it was hot and there was plenty of it. Staff in all areas although very busy (we can see why!) were all very friendly. We shall definitely be returning to the Langham soon.

Although areas of the hotel could do with a smarten up, the excellent quality of the food certainly made up for that.
Our room was on the small side and the shower room was very small with a curtain around the shower.
Entertainment, which was alright although not varied enough, took place in a rather unwelcoming area in the basement.
The staff were efficient and very pleasant.

My husband and I held my birthday celebrations at the Langham Hotel on 28/5/16. We were a group of 28 for a three course luncheon and I have to say we had the best time. The food was fabulous. We met with Simon the manager and Michael the head chef to select a suitable meal for our guests. All dietary requirements were sensitively catered for and nothing seemed too much trouble. Since the meal I have received so many messages and letters of thanks all complimenting the hotel. The music ( Duality) was wonderful as was the service and attention to detail. Quite a few of our guests have had the pleasure of staying at and eating in some of the most famous hotels in London and all have said the Langham excels in so many ways. There is nothing else to say except thank you Neil, Wendy, Simon, Michael and Ali, we will be back again and again and again.

Neil and Wendy Kirby, owners of the Langham Hotel, together with their family and staff have provided a superb hotel catering for all ages and requirements. Nothing is too much trouble for them to make your stay memorable and comfortable. The family feel does nothing to detract from the 5* treatment offered to all who stay at the Langham. The food is second to none, the rooms are tastefully decorated and extremely comfortable and the staff are friendly, courteous and helpful.

This hotel is lovely right on the front, quite 80's but very clean & tidy.. Bedroom 118 was comfortable. The room where the festival was held was a strange shape to accommodate round tables. Food was good on the bar menu and at the festival meal, breakfast for so many around round tables was a little fractious but apart from that all good..

We stayed in one of the new junior suites overlooking the sea. Bathrobes, slippers, bottled water, etc. Check-in went smoothly, and the staff were very attentive. Free WiFi at the check-in and a newspaper delivered at my room the next morning. I decided to have dinner at the restaurant, once again the food and service was great, and good value for money. I purchased the owner's autobiography, 'Celebrity Hotel' - he says he's been in the hotel business for 49 years, and you can see that they are a hands on family run hotel. We'll be certainly returning.

I booked this hotel due to a very competitive rate and the good reviews.
After arriving fairly late at night, I was waiting at reception for a few minutes before a gentleman came to assist. I understand that staff are sometimes held up, so that was no issue, but it was disappointing to not even receive a simple "sorry to keep you waiting". Also, another member of staff walked by and could see I was waiting, but didn't decide to ask if I had been served. Not the best first impression. I was given my room key and told about breakfast timings. Upon my enquiring as to what time check out was, the gentleman proceeded to say 10:00.....but with 10:30 the latest, as this was to help the housekeeping. Considering 10:30 is already an early check out time compared to a lot of hotels, to be told initially 10:00 to help the housekeeping staff placed an unwanted thought of am "I going to be seen as a burden if I check out at 10:30?" The gentleman, however was polite whilst giving me this information.
The room (single, sea view) was small but perfectly adequate for one night stay. The shower room was modern and clean. Though, it was a bit dark when the door was closed, but no biggie. The room was very warm during the night, even with the window open. You can hear noise from the road, which didn't affect me personally, but could do if you are a light sleeper.
Free wifi is stable and fast. By the way, the in room information booklet says to get an authorisation code from reception for the wifi, but this is obviously old information as you just have to select the hotel's wifi on your device and it connects without the need of an authorisation code.
I didn't eat in the hotel, but the catering here seems to be highly praised.
Check out was better handled than the check in.
Overall, it was a good experience. The first impressions weren't great, but the rest was good.

My father needed a very well earned break from looking after mum so we decided to not only give his new car a run but visit a town I used to live in, we chose the Langham for its position and great reviews we couldn't have done better the warm welcome from the staff and Neil and his lovely wife made us feel at home and we had a sea facing room which had a view to die for! The bed was very comfortable and everything was immaculate in presentation the bathroom too was fabulous and the heavy top quality towels complete with the hotels motif were luxurious. The evening entertainment was a lovely husband and wife team who had great voices and every one up dancing and enjoying a great evening, breakfast was served in the front terrace area which with its beautiful views along with a top quality breakfast set us up for another enjoyable day in Eastbourne, in short fantastic Hotel with lovely staff warm sincere welcome great food and service sensibly priced, all in all good old fashion hospitality at its best A Big thanks from us both be back soon !

What a great little hotel with a big name. Right on the seafront in Eastbourne. Step across the road to walk on the beach. OK for Australians there's no sand, but for those of use from UK the pebbles mean history.
The hotel has neat tidy rooms most over looking the water with views of the pier. Very clean and tidy and serviced regularly.

Been here for afternoon tea multiple times, they are very accommodating for your needs, great selection of cakes which are different each time you go! Scones are amazing and always served warm. When I did have a problem they sorted it and gave me a voucher for afternoon tea for two which was great!
Would 100% visit again!

Our trip was a gift to my mother for her 80th birthday, we had booked 2 of the 4 poster rooms and requested that my mother had the better one. She was absolutely thrilled with the room and the sea view as was my father. The staff for the main part were friendly and the food was excellent and in abundance. The 4 poster room my husband and I had unfortunately had a horrible smell and after one night requested to be moved, we then took the Cuckmere room which was beautiful - newly refurbished and fantastic sea view and spacious with beautiful walk in shower, definitely recommend. There was entertainment on 2 of our 3 night stay and the Friday night entertainment was excellent, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves listening to a married couple with great voices.

Second visit to this fabulous hotel on a bowls tour. All the staff are pleasant, helpful and professional. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. There is a wide choice to suit all palates. From breakfast to dinner the meals are faultless. We actually stayed in the same room, too, and this had been recently refurbished to a very high standard. Evening entertainment was provided and we were also able to do our own quizzes etc. The situation is good too as it is right at the end of the parade with excellent sea views, but a short walk to the pier and shopping centre.
