Have to say I was a little disappointed with this hotel, after seeing it rated so highly on here.

The service earlier in the month from the lady on reception who checked me in and out was indifferent and made me wonder if me staying in a single room at a cheap rate for one night had some influence on her attitude, as opposed to spending more for a longer stay.

My room was a little bigger than I expected for a single room and noise from the bar was audible until quite late. There was also wallpaper peeling from one of the walls, which set off ringing bells in my mind as soon as I walked in. The room was all clean, though, and I didn't hear any loud guests walking by in the early hours. But I disliked the 'old-school' sheet and blanket bedding, which presumably is to cut down on costs of cleaning and replenishing duvet's. The bed was also too short for me and I'm average height so I didn't have a good night's sleep.

The free wi-fi was the quickest and easiest to log on to that I've experience in a hotel.

Service at breakfast was hesitant and the menu was a little confusing given mine was included in the price but what exactly I could have wasn't mentioned when I booked. Used to buffet breakfasts, I asked the waiter what the situation was and I was told by I could have had 'anything' so I chose a veggie breakfast and, dear me, this was a sorry state of affairs - a couple of spoonfuls of tinned mushrooms, half a raw tomato, one poached egg and a few spoonfuls of baked beans. I actually felt embarrassed asking for accompanying toast and more of it a bit later. I do think you can tell an awful lot about a hotel by the breakfast it serves and I didn't like having the waiter stand two feet away from me whilst I was eating.

I doubt I'd stay here again in all honesty.

Fantastic room with views over the sea

The staff are great, always polite

We have stayed before and pleased to say standards are equally as good now if not even better. The food was of a first class standard and in particular the 5 course meal served for the Ladies' night. Thanks for a fantastic weekend

Relaxing quick seaside break - the hotel is extremely well maintained. Dinner at the restaurant was v good; AA rosettes are well deserved. Staff all polite and helpful; it would seem from the general staff attitude that they are valued in their roles and it shows. We stayed in the honeymoon suite - it was a very large and well laid out room with a superbly comfortable 4 poster bed; high quality linen and a view over the sea to die for. The room was impeccably clean. The shower in the bathroom was very powerful. It was unusual to have no bath; nonetheless this didn't detract from a wonderful stay. Breakfast freshly made to order - yummy! Would happily return.

Stayed here 12 months ago for a similar function and we were well impressed. Pleased to say standards are equally as good now if not even better. The food was of a first class standard and in particular the 5 course meal served for the Ladies' night. The staff are great, always polite and friendly and keen to oblige. The towels and gown in the room were lovely and soft and fluffy. Free Wi-Fi was very good too. Thank for a fantastic weekend, see you again soon.

We have stayed here many times over a course of 10 years and the service has never faulted, the staff are eager to help and the rooms are very comfortable, especially the newly decorated rooms in 2015 / 2016. Mr and Mrs Kirby the owners are often seen in the hotel and always ask how you are, they really want to make sure your stay is what you expected and more. The food is just amazing from breakfast, lunch and dinner. if you want a big hotel experience on the seafront in a family hotel then you cannot beat this. it is a must to visit if you go to Eastbourne. the Hotel is so close to all amenities, seafront, shopping. so you can park your car, stay in the hotel and just walk.

Stayed here for two nights, staff extremely helpful and friendly. A little distance from the town centre but right on top of the sea front. I booked a single room which on reflection was probably an error on my part. Not a great deal of space but functional. Kettle and hot drink facilities provided and a bottle of water which is always welcome.

WiFi was free and of a good speed. Bedding not my cup of tea, sheets and blankets as opposed to duvet, but hotel was nice and quiet and easy to get a restful nights sleep.

Didn't eat here in the evening but the breakfast was of a good standard and plentiful.

What a fantastic hotel the Langham is. Their service is second to none and the food is always amazing. My wife and I attended another Ladies lunch with friends and as always the staff did an incredible job. The speaker, as Henry 8th was very interesting and entertaining and probably one of the best speakers we have seen. The service was impeccable and the food outstanding, as always. What makes this hotel and restaurant stand out above the rest, is the staff, with hands on management by Neil, the owner, and his managers. Everyone is aiming to please, nothing is too much trouble and this reflects in all aspects of the hotel. Why would you want to stay and eat anywhere else in Eastbourne? They also cater for my strange diet so well and they never fail to provide a great meal that I can enjoy without worrying.

had two night stay at this hotel Friday to Sunday, stayed in superior room which was very well decorated and very clean. Rather cold with only a sheet and blanket no quilt.

All hotel extras eg:kettle biscuits bottles of water and bathroom smellies and bath robe.

Breakfast was to order which I'm not a fan of but food was to a good standard and service was good.

Car parking was a bit strange but worked well

Overall nice small hotel with a good feel and would stay again

This is the sixth year we have been to the Langham for a Dinner and Dance and the fifth year that we have stayed over! Such a beautiful hotel, very charming and helpful staff and the food is very good. Entertainment was laid on, which we all enjoyed, and I, for one, am looking forward to our next visit - now I have to come up with another excuse for visiting Eastbourne more often!!

We took advantage of a special offer for Dinner B&B at this friendly family run hotel. I can't fault the service we had, from dinner in the conservatory restaurant to drinks in the bar, all staff are friendly and welcoming. We had a lovely sea view room. This hotel combines the anonymity of a large hotel with the family run feel of a B&B, which is exactly what we look for.

It was good to see that the hotel are very busy running special evening events which many local people were attending. This gave a good vibe to the evenings as throngs of people milled about.

We were especially happy with the personal service we received from the management when we experienced some difficulties during our stay.

I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. We have been coming here on and off for about 9 years now.

I visit Eastbourne every month so have stayed in a large number of hotels over the years. The Langham was an excellent choice and I am surprised I haven't stayed here before now.

I stayed in a single room on a last minute booking. Parking was easy down the side street and was free. The room was a nice surprise, not only was it spotlessly clean, it was quite roomy (for a single) and had loads of little extras...toiletries, biscuits, tissues, pen and paper, dressing gown. I was over the back of the hotel which was not a problem for me, as it was raining anyway so you couldn't see much and I was staying for only 1 night, so I am sure the beach front rooms are more expensive. My shower room was gorgeous - it was so clean it looked as if I was the first person to ever use it . The toiletries provided smelt lovely, especially the Aloe Vera soap. This hotel really does have high standards and didn't disappoint. Some of the rooms were being decorated whilst I was there and painters were using the hallway, but it wasn't a problem and there was no noise.

The bed linen was crisp and clean, the carpet showed no sign of wear, and the service in the breakfast room overlooking the front and pier was suberb. It wasn't overly busy and I am visiting out of season and mid week, but all the staff I encountered seemed happy in their jobs, they always held eye contact, greeted you and smiled. The reception was super efficient on both booking in and out. Overall an excellent stay and I can recommend this hotel

Great hotel in ideal location on sea front. Room was newly decorated and had everything you need for an overnight stay including bottled water. The weather was very rough and it was nice to have the option to eat in the hotel restaurant. The set menu was a reasonable price and had a good choice of dishes. The food was very nice and the bar prices were OK.
Staff were friendly and helpful, will definitely stay again but would book direct next time, Booking.com made everything more complicated.

My wife and I have just returned from an excellent stay at this hotel over the weekend. Everything was excellent from the efficient check in to the speedy checkout, and of course everything in between! We enjoyed an excellent meal in the restaurant on the Friday evening - the mushrooms although a small supplement were very tasty and worth the extra - the chicken was also very tasty! Breakfast both mornings was very good efficiently served to the table rather than a buffet.

Very friendly team of staff, an excellent hotel all round - we will definitely be visiting again

Attended a Ladies weekend from 5-7th February. As previous visits the whole weekend was wonderful. The hotel was warm and welcoming. All the staff were helpful, friendly and professional, a special mention to Katie on reception for her help ,to George who coped with us all very well despite being new and to Michael who was as friendly and helpful as always. The music quiz on the Friday night was excellent and great fun.Having met the hosts last year we knew we were in for a good night !The Ladies Festival on the Saturday was lovely, the food was very good, smooth service and the band kept the dance floor full. From the reception to the midnight buffet it was spot on. The newly refurbished room was stylish and very comfortable. Only two minor issues , the shower pressure was very weak and the water wasnt very hot. This matter was mentioned on checkout and would be looked into. The breakfast does not match up to the quality of the hotel. The fried eggs are tiny, the fried bread is like a crispbread and the sausages are tasteless. One tiny kipper was presented on a large plate with no garnish as was the poached egg on toast. Both looked very unappetising and would maybe benefit from a smaller plate and a garnish ie lemon ,parsley etc.If a large table then a jug of orange juice would be nice.It is a lovely dining room with great views and the staff are very friendly so it is a nice place to have breakfast. Thank you to everyone at The Langham for a wonderful weekend.Once again the Ladies were very lucky

We were part of a large party that stayed for the weekend to celebrate a friends birtherday. The hotel was fantastic, the staff, the rooms, the bar, the food. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Even bathrobes were provided. Bottles of water and tea making facilities. The bar was comfortable with plenty of sofas and chairs, compared to London prices the bar costs were a pleasant surprise. The evening meal was beautifully presented, no compaints at all from us, very high quality.

Just got home from a wonderful weekend stay.
Hired entire hotel for 50th birthday, 112 guests, all stayed. Hotel catered for everything.
Superb 4 course dinner, staff were a well oiled machine, service was excellent. Everyone loved the food and the rooms, have had so many people contact us to thank us for a lovely weekend but it's the staff and owners of the hotel who deserve the applause, they did all the hard work. We just turned up. Thank you Langham Hotel and all the staff for your hard work, you made my husbands 50th party amazing, and looked after all of our guests. THANK YOU!!!!!

I stayed here for one night. It was a single room. It was big enough for my needs. This hotel is ideal for a short stay. Very reasonably priced too. Breakfast very good, and quick too. Note that parking is extra, but not unreasonable.
I will be back in Eastbourne in 6 months. I dare say I'll be staying here again.

My wife and I were looking for a nice getaway in the 1st weekend of January and decided upon this hotel due to the reviews and its position on the promenade.

It was a very cold and windy Saturday when we turned up and the room was ready early. We had a 4 poster room and there were was free port and sherry in the room. the towels were thick and the dressing gowns a bonus. We had very large windows over looking the sea.

The staff were great, there was young lad on the front desk who was extremely polite and the bar staff great. We had a lovely stay.

In the morning the cooked breakfast was delicious! and the young lady that served us was very polite. I would definitely return. Well done to the Langham a delightful private Hotel who care about their customers.

Thanks

So I came to retreat as I needed a bit of me time! The Langham is a lovely venue, nice friendly staff! I stayed I the honeymoon suite and it is actually beautiful just loved it. It's a shame there is only a shower and not a bath but still lovely. The views are phenomenal! GREAT experience Restaurant is lovely limited choice but nice and reasonably priced food. It's such a great Little break I extended my stay.

The only negatives

My room is on the first floor and I can hear the entertainment when I wanted quiet time and unfortunately there was bag pipes playing outside my window and as I was trying to relax this was quite a disturbance and gave me a pounding headache. But this is hardly something that's common I think and re the entertainment it's the first floor so what can be expected.

Room Service
Quite limited options and I feel that the full room service menu should be available until at least 10pm as sometimes you get peckish late or you forget to eat etc and there's really limited option bare minimum of of basic sandwiches after 8pm and that was disappointing as it would make this hotel even more special.

You can't go on the balcony which is such a shame because it is so beautiful and I would have loved to have my coffee out there.

All in all this hotel is a GEM. And I will definitely be returning. Love it!

We moved house at the beginning of December so didn't have much of a Christmas and our 3 night stay at New Year was just what the doctor ordered. We have stayed at the hotel many times over the past few years and Neil Kirby and his wife, Wendy, have made considerable improvements refurbishing most of the hotel. This includes the bedrooms which are tasteful and modern. The hotel is on the seafront so all the front rooms have a wonderful sea view which extends to the pier. The restaurant, has a great menu with plenty of choice for all tastes and always has vegetarian options. The breakfast menu has a wide range of dishes and is a perfect way to start the day. All the extra little touches at New Year together with the entertainment were very noticeable and the trip to the pantomime was great fun. The staff are always very attentive and nothing is too much trouble. There is always such a happy atmosphere amongst the staff which reflects how good the management is. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the hotel at any time of the year.

Unable to rest in the afternoon after a long walk because the hotel was doing refurbishment to some rooms and there was a lot of noise from banging and drilling. I was also bitten on my arm by some sort of bug in the early hours of the morning which caused me a lot of pain and discomfort.

A lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. Great location. I am pleased that the hotel offered me a reduction on my overall cost to compensate me for the discomfort I experienced. I would certainly visit this hotel again.

My partner and I have just returned from a three night stay which we thoroughly enjoyed, The room, which overlooked the Channel, was warm, clean and comfortable and the staff were excellent, always helpful and keen to be of service. We ate in the restaurant and found the food extremely good - no need to look elsewhere! We would happily return.
