the food was fresh and ok, but needed to have Greek seasonings - roasted vegetables tasted bland and why new potatoes when they arte served with rice?
taramasalata was bright pink and very glutinous. Hummus was good, chicken kebab was good. Has promise just need to improve a few dishes and definitely service which was haphazard, slow and not very welcoming. I don't think deliberately just not very good at the customer care bit.

First visit very busy perhaps one more staff required as drinks were slow to arrive.
Food was excellent and arrived in good time.
Very pleasant staff and owner.
Lighting requires dimming to increase the cosy theme.
Overall a very enjoyable experience will return.

We found Gr/Eat from the Trip Advisor reviews and thought they were excellent. Make sure you book in advance. We stuck to Greek classics - pork souvlaki, mousakka, hummus, tsatziki, kolokythokeftedes, and Taramasalata. All were very good although the hummus needed more olive oil and tahini. Recommended.

Having gone past this restaurant a few times, my husband and i decided we would give it a go, we found the food to be excellent, the staff very helpful and the restaurant very clean and tidy, we didn't try much as it was our first time eating greek food but we will definately be returning as our experience was so good

My boyfriend and had a lovely sunny lunch seated in the sun at the front of the restaurant. I very flexible set lunch menu and very reasonably priced too!

Went there with the wife last night, and squeezed ourselves into the last two tables in the place (Word of advice: book ahead!). We were hugely indecisive, as all the menu items look great (pardon the pun).
We had the Meze meal for two. You don't get to choose things, but although that was a slight consideration, we needn't have worried. Everything came out freshly cooked from the kitchen and tasted amazing. Another little tip here, make sure you're really hungry if you're ordering this, as the generosity of the Greeks is copiously on display here. A trio of dips, with a Greek Salad, followed by a Feta Saganaki, Giant Beans, and then we got to the mains. Couple of Souvlaki Skewers followed by a Beef in Red Sauce. Beautiful! Bear in mind, when you go, this may not be what you get.
We were so full at this point we stopped for a breather, before the Greek Desserts came out. And I have to single these out. Normally when you get these, they're pretty much of a muchness. However, it's clear these are hand made - there's a wonderful flavour to everything that is presented to you. I loved these.

I went here tonight with 2 friends. We had the full meze meal, and it was absolutely amazing. Really reasonable pricing for the food, and definitely for the drinks too. I would recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a great evening, and for amazing Greek food. Will definitely be going back!

My wife and I enjoyed an extremely tasty and well presented meal here on a quiet Sunday evening. The owner is friendly and attentive and the prices are remarkably good, with excellent Greek wines at very fair prices. We shared a mixed starter of dips with toasted pitta - all home made - generous portion size and delicious. For main course we both enjoyed moussaka but there was lots of great food on the menu.
What's there to like: the setting, ambience, the welcome and attention, the wine, delicious food, and a very reasonable bill. We would definitely eat here often if we lived nearer!

If you like to travel around Greece and feel that you need a little Mediterranean pick me up I would highly recommend a visit . The retsina wine is from Crete and very nice , I would recommend the starters they where all good .

Gr/eat food , Gr/eat owners, Gr/eat staff, Gr/eat atmosphere. 10 of us descended for an evening meal at this wonderful restaurant. We had prebooked our table and to help the chef preordered our states and main dishes. I've said it all the beginning of my review. Such a good time we've gone on the list en mass for when Greek nights are being held

Haven't enjoyed a meal so much in a long time. Not a huge choice on the menu but quite sufficient. Wife and I went for my birthday. Chose two Meze dishes as a starter then two very different main meals and two different desserts. All were well cooked. Service was excellent and cost represented excellent value for money. Meze dishes between £4-6; main courses between £10-16. Three course meal with wine for two came to about £50. I will return many times. It's only just opened and deserves to do very, very well.

Booked a table for Greek night and it was amazing!! The food was awesome and the service was great. The best thing though was the atmosphere! Bouzouki and dancing all night!

Went to Gr/eat on a Saturday evening on a friend's recommendation. We were struck by its cleanliness and professional, friendly staff. We could see into the kitchen which looked pukka. All tables were reserved and people were being turned away. The food was good, particularly the starter dips and dessert which we chose. It was particularly pleasing that there were many vegetarian options. The only slight blips were the cold draught from the continually opening door, and the fact that the vegetables served alongside my rice were not as described to me by the waitress, and were disappointing - mainly sauté potatoes instead of peppers and courgettes. Nevertheless, apart from this, we enjoyed the meal and welcome this addition to Eastbourne's choice of good ethnic restaurants, as we love this style of cuisine. We intend to visit again at lunchtime and hope to bring a party of 10 book club members here for our annual dinner or lunch in July.

Always call in at grEAT when in Eastbourne now and after sitting outside with a bottle of retsina and some meze dips in the blazing sun went inside for the main meal. Close attention by the staff and owner Visilis. Lovely meal and then pastry of the day washed down with coffee. Great meal at "Greek" prices. Cannot wait for the next visit

We visited on a rather frantic Friday night with an almost full house of diners looking to be impressed by this relatively new addition to Eastbourne.
The decor is neat, fresh and tidy and despite having televisions on the wall (which gives a rather takeaway feel to an otherwise lovely atmosphere). We were sat down promptly and provided with menus although not informed of any specials which would have been nice.
Starters were calamari and one portion of humous and pitta which was very well made and my calamari was excellent compared with what I have had at Italian places in the past. Not greasy or overdone.
I requested a half pork and half chicken souvlaki which they obliged me despite not strictly being on the menu. I was pleased with what I received and even more pleased when I tasted it. Really charcoaled in flavour, perfect for the summer. The chicken was better than the pork which was a little dry but it was lovely regardless.
My vegetarian eating partner had an excellent selection to choose from, compared with the usual boring options. She had a selection of mezzes with giant beans and baked feta which she considered enjoyable, these were a favourite from holidays in Greece and although hard to compare to those abroad they went down well.
Drinks were authentic and varied and were reasonably priced.
In terms of value for money it was around 20 pounds per head which is reasonable although you could have a more authentic experience by sharing more mezzes.
Will return. Good to take the family. Friendly service and popular with the locals.

This restaurant was a great discovery,must round the corner from our seafront hotel - not so good! GR/eat is run by Vasilis and his wife - they are very friendly and charming. All the waiting staff were fantastic - Vivianna, Elsa and Alex especially. We are there four times during our stay, and enjoyed it as much every time. The food is excellent - particularly good for vegetarian choices, and the wine was fine too. The atmosphere was quiet and the location very good.

Just like to say that I really enjoy eating here its newly opend so always exciting to try out a new restaurant, I am Greek and the daughter of the Athens down the road growing up in the restaurant business I always end up having the same food everyday so it's nice to try other people's cooking vasili is a great cook and I've invited lots of friends to eat here thanks Victoria and vasili for a lovely experience each time I come and visit.
