Believe it or not, this was the first Greek restaurant m'Julia and I went to in the UK in the six years we've been together. We loved it. Felt welcomed. Gr/eat food, a Gr/eat team working there. We'll definitely eat there again when we next visit Eastbourne

What can I say that has not already been said! Wonderful authentic Greek food, beer and wine, the latter being available to buy for home consumption at an incredibly competitive price. All this complimented by a friendly team of people who clearly have a passion for delivering the very best in customer service, my wife and I are already looking forward to our next visit.

We've been away for 7 months, found this fabulous restaurant on our return.
Haven't had a decent Greek meal for a very long time, this was worth waiting for.
We visited on a Thursday lunchtime, it was busy, and got a table inside. Although there's tables outside in the sunshine too.
We ordered a trio of lovely greek dips, with pitta & white bread, and a Greek salad with Feta cheese, to share. Everything was fresh & really tasty, the salad was delicious. To follow we ordered a Moussaka and pork kebab.
The Moussaka was the best I've tasted in years. Very impressed with the service, quality and quantity of food. The portions are quite large.
But the meal deal on offer for lunch was great value.
Going back this week, love it.

We visited Gr/eat on Wednesday 27th July at 6.30pm. Wednesday was a very busy evening in town as there was a bikers/rockers meet with loud live music performed right at the front door and Harleys flying up and down the thoroughfare outside which was closed to traffic for the event.
Prior to the live music the atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely, relaxed, friendly and typically Greek. Wonderful. The decor is modern but simple with a deli to the rear and it is spotlessly clean.
I had no objection to the noise but I think the restaurant staff felt that it impacted on the ambience that they work hard to create and they did look a little annoyed at the racket outside competing with their Greek music which they then switched off. I think this is a true reflection of the pride that this restaurant takes in its level of service and authenticity. The menu is traditional and a feast for anyone who loves Greek cuisine. Our eyes were way bigger than our bellies. We ordered dips, olives and 5 dishes from the mezze menu, my husband felt he would also order a main for good measure. We were warned that we had ordered a lot of food! Which was nice because the restaurant treated our enjoyment as a priority where other restaurants might just try and sell as much food as possible.
The dips were fresh, home made and served with lovely warm pitta. We then enjoyed aubergine, halloumi, baked feta in a sesame crust drizzled in honey, Greek sausage and calamari. My mouth is watering just thinking back to the fresh beautifully prepared dishes served in generous portions.
Wine is very reasonably priced and the rose was lovely. Husband struggled but gastronomic pride forced him to battle on and eat some of the main course even although it had clearly defeated him. This restaurant is a joy, a treasure that I can't fault other than accessibility for wheelchair users. The toilets are in the basement down steep steps but this is very common for commercial properties in Eastbourne. Wonderful, delicious food, great atmosphere, professional and friendly staff. 10/10 and we will put it at the top of our list if we return to Eastbourne. Well done !

I went with my wife and we ordered the meze for £20 per person. We couldn't believe how many courses came out and the owner popped over to talk to us for a while. The flavours and quality of the food were really excellent and we were so pleased to see our favourite Greek wine on the list for a very reasonable £15 a bottle. Eastbourne has many brilliant restaurants and this one deserves to be in the top section. Try it if you like Greek food and I'm confident you will be impressed.

"You will want to keep the taste of the food in your mouth for a while" says my 11 yrs old boy. I believe he is right! The service is superb! The food is freshly Homemade and delicious. The owner Vasilis knows what he is doing. He is a very good host. All the other staff if very friendly as well. Once you try here, you will not be able to go anywherelse in town. I can't suggest you anything because everything is delicious. Must come more than once! We definetly did come more than 3 times in a week.

This has become my favourite restaurant locally. It has an authentic laid back Greek atmosphere, and although the menu is limited the food is well prepared and very tasty. It is not the biggest restaurant in the world and can be very busy at weekends. I have noticed it is gaining in popularity and more and more local Greek people are eating there, which says a lot I think. If you are busting Eastbourne and like the feel and taste of the Greek Islands then you should pay a visit.

The atmosphere is lovely - nicely decorated and welcoming and attentive staff. We had the mezze and in line with previous reviews I would concur that the portions are huge. For £19/head we had six or so different mezze brought out - mostly vegetarian and a wonderful variety of delicate flavours. After finishing those we were feeling fairly full - so when the waitress asked if we'd like a break before the main I thought she was joking - clearly not. We then had pork and chicken souvlaki and a beef stew (served with rice and chips respectively). Then baklava, which needless to say we couldn't finish.
The wine list is very good with some nice Greek wines at very reasonable prices. To answer some of the less good reviews below - understand what Gr/Eat is not. It is not gourmet cooking - it is honest home fare. So chicken souvlaki is just chicken and a few vegetables on a skewer served with chips - but it is seasoned and cooked to perfection, with the chicken juicy and tender. The broad bean mezze is a big plate of broad beans in tomato sauce - but I have not had a better bean stew.
It's the sort of place that if we found on holiday in Greece we would be tempted to go back every night.

A friend and I recently visited before seeing a show... One word...excellent!!! From the atmosphere, to the service and of course most of all the food it was all superb! We eat from the meze menu, great portion sizes, really tasty rustic food, we were sad we almost had to rush to get to the theatre. We are booked up again with 7 friends to really enjoy the full dining experience.. A must for anyone who enjoys good food and a lovely friendly welcome!

The menu offers a selection of dishes comprising three courses (appetizers, main courses and desserts) for £19.90 per person, min 2 persons. No choice - they just appear. To start we had taramosalata, hummus, tzatziki and pita bread, Greek salad and extra bread. Next Zamponotiropitakia (ham, spinach and cheese filo triangles), Kolokithokeftedes (deep fried courgettes with herbs, onion and cheese) and fried Halloumi. Then Fasolia Fournou (giant beans cooked with onions, carrots, herbs and tomato). Then Feta Sousami (feta covered in sesame seeds, deep fried and topped with Greek honey). Then two main courses to share: Bekri Meze (spicy beef with peppers, served with rice) and Chicken Souvlaki with chips. Finally Kataifi (filo with nuts in honey syrup), ice-cream and a lemon cake. All for £19.90 per person. Service was excellent and there is a good ambience, with some outside tables. With a glass of Retsina and a Mythos beer, the bill came to £46.05. If you do come here for the selection, make sure that you are hungry!

We had lunch with family and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals - Greek salad, Moussaka and chicken souvlaki, dessert was also very good. The food is always flavoursome and well presented. The atmosphere and service was great - it was very busy, being Saturday. I just love this little bit of Greece in Eastbourne. Thank you Vicky and Vasilis.

Great prices and quick service to start with. The food was made from really good produce. Lovely olives, quality feta and tzatziki made with real greek yoghurt. Halloumi was perfectly fried and golden. We also had the greek "falafel" which was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Highly recommended as by others.

We visited Eastbourne for one night with my girlfriend as a last minute.com something to do.
We went to this restaurant purely on the reviews we had seen on trip advisor. It did not dis appoint and was an absolute beauty of meal!
Be warned.... There is ALOT of food on the £19.50 each meze. Make sure you are Hungary! The food is complexly random
We had garlic bread and dips, with three dishes for starters ten followed by two larger starters followed by two main meals followed again by dessert.
The food was of the highest quality and the staff was extremely helpful and I think it was the owner, the gentleman noticed we didn't eat feta cheese and realised there was one on main meal so changed our main meal. Top top man.
Highly recommend and extremely affordable for the amount and quality of food you get.
Big thumbs up. Thank you.

Away on business and checked reviews for local restaurants. This was near the top so thought I would try it out.
Was shown to table and handed menu. Young lady took order but wasn't customer friendly. Starter of hummus arrived which was ok. Ordered lamb shank for main but was given lamb chops. Being typically English didn't want to make a scene so just accepted it. I'm sure they would have changed if asked. Lamb was ok again. Restaurant clean and had a nice ambience. Gentleman (possibly owner) attentive but both ladies working didn't add to the experience.
