A great place for families with young children. The miniature railway is well thought out with lots of interesting things on the route. You're likely to spend most of your time in the play areas, and there is a toddler specific area plus slightly larger kids bits. It's all outdoors so if it's a wet day you'll need to consider this.

An ideal place to bring any children between about 1 and 12 years.

Entry is less than a tenner a person (under 3s go free) and each person gets one ride on the train. Additional rides are £1.50 per person.

Our little one (4 y.o) loved the toddler's play area with several garden shed type playhouses and all the other equipment you would expect in a playground. She also got quite a lot of use out of the older children's play area.

The cafe is affordable and the food is prepared fresh when it's ordered, it's the perfect arrangement for a place like this, offering sandwiches, baked potatoes panini, and lunch boxes for the children. Ice creams and snacks are also available.

Our little one who loves all things transport-related happily spent several hours there, had three rides on the train and had to be dragged away at closing time.

Great day out for young children, would say not much for plus 11 year olds. My 3 y/o and 10 y/o had a great day, the price for entry includes one ride of the train which is reasonably priced. The train is great, the loop takes around 7 minutes so it is quite short but you can buy more rides for a few pounds. The other attractions include a good playground for older kids and separate ones for toddlers, maze, water gardens, nature walk and a small cabinet miniature railway. Only one cafe but picnics are allowed, cafe was nothing amazing but very well priced considering they had a captive audience. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed the few hours there.

Used to come here as a child and recently visited with my grandmother while visiting from Australia. Just as I remembered and had just as much fun as an adult as I did when I was a child.

Plenty for kids to do with a playground, nature walk, maze and of course, the miniature steam train ride. Plenty of food options from the cafe and a niche little gift shop.

A great day out and very reasonable.

The park is beautifully laid out with plenty for children to do.

The train rides are frequent and a good tour around the site, including a trip through a tunnel to capture the children's imagination.

Staff are very friendly and seem to really enjoy their time there.

There are plenty of areas for the children to play. The model railways are fascinating and there's a nice walk around the lake.

Parking is free and didn't seem too busy.

Great day out for big and small! We went with a group of children between 2.5 to 8 years old. All had a good day!
Miniature railway has lovely, well maintained playgrounds, interesting train displays and there was lots of fun on the 5 minute ride on the miniature train- especially gping through the tunnel. Many picnic areas can lower cost of the visit if you choose not to buy food from the café.
