We go monthly to listen to guest speakers as the Congress Theatre next door is receiving lengthy building repairs. The Devonshire Park theatre is a homely Victorian(?) old theatre with a friendly atmosphere. We sit in the front row as my wife is partially deaf. From this vantage point one can see how bad the paintwork is around the stage. All in all charming but dilapidated.

Travelled down to watch friends in Panto – fun, unsophisticated experience in the perfect old-time setting. Original old building, auditorium has a compact, intimate feel to it; plush red seats, boxes facing away from stage, lots of low wattage lighting and a chandelier. Reasonably sized stage area. Sight-lines generally good, although there are a few supporting pillars further back in the stalls. Staff were very friendly and helpful, even recommending eateries close by. Toilet facilities clean, although a long queue formed for the ladies during the interval (a fairly common drawback in many old theatres). Good, locally made ice-creams on sale. Backstage facilities for performers fairly basic and cramped, again the norm for this age of theatre. Our experience here was very positive and we'd happily return (oh yes we would!)

Have seen plays and concerts at the theatre; all of the highest standard with well-known actors and accomplished musicians.

This is a beautiful Victorian theatre located in central Eastbourne. It's worth a visit just to sit in the comfortable seats, take in the atmosphere of the place and enjoy the amazing interior. However, the theatre is also very well managed and puts on some top class productions. Highly recommended.

Staff friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable. Inside it's a wonderful theatre in good condition. Plush red seat. A bit too close together. .
Big stage so West end travelling shows would fit here.
Great community asset.

We love the Devonshire Park, and make an annual pilgrimage there for their excellent pantomimes. The seating is comfortable, and while we've only been in the stalls, we've always had good views. Toilets are cleaned regularly, refreshments available are fairly limited, being just soft drinks, sweets and ice cream, but it's a short walk to local shops and cafes if you want to bring in a hot drink.<br>Staff are always friendly and helpful, but don't arrive too early for the performance as the foyer gets packed before the seating areas are opened up. Definitely recommend their pantos - always great, and filled with humour for young and old alike.
