Awesome atmosphere. Log/coal fire to enjoy and different events throughout the week. Great service.. Food was hot, fresh and great tasting, though I would have preferred more side salad than fat chips. Staff gave great tips on local places to visit. Definitely come here again!

Feel really terrible that my last visit to this place was years and years ago when it certainly wasn't like this!
Had read recent reviews and as it is literally down the road from me decided to go for lunch with a friend.
Lovely menu with something for everyone . We both chose the cottage pie which came with vegetables on the side and a mini jug of gravy . The portions were fantastic (one of us was given a doggy box to take some home ) and it tasted divine. You could tell it was home made and not bought in .
Not the cheapest pub food but it's not ordinary pub grub and it certainly is worth going there .
Decor is nice, we sat by an open fire . The staff today were two lovely girls / ladies who couldn't have made us feel more welcome .
Definitely going back.

We were going to eat here but weren't blown away by the menu, however the staff were exceptionally friendly and the drinks were fair priced. We enjoyed the use of pool table, dart board and juke box. I also personally liked that it was dog friendly!

Dropped in to try out the fish n chips as we always call in here and once again, were not disappointed.
Pleasant meal, variety of beers available, decor in good order and clientele full of fun as they were gearing up for a karaoke evening.

In Eastbourne for a few days, found this splendid pub. Friendly staff and great pub food. Husband says they know how to keep cask ale, (a sign a good pub) The Old Speckled Hen beer was good. I was impressed with the cleanliness of the ladies loo! So many pub loos are neglected. These were spotless and well supplied. Well done Crown and Anchor for keeping up the tradition of a fine English pub and maintaining such high standards in all areas

Our second visit here and being on Boxing Day the Christmas decorations were still up. The staff obviously take a lot of care as the whole pub was very tastefully decorated and with a roaring real fire looked and smelt beautiful. The food and service were spot on and this will definitely be our first call on our next Eastbourne trip.

Found this pub on the corner of our hotel and the Parade. It's a cosy Greene King house with pleasant staff and helpful locals. We had a power failure while we were there but, after supplying tables with candlepower, the staff continued serving the lovely ales by torchlight until the power restored. The meal we ate later was fairly priced, more than ample and excellent tasting. Will definitely visit again before we leave the town.

We fell into this Greene King pub to get out of the rain and boy are we glad we did. The staff were friendly and beer knowledgable. The locals were helpful with directions around the town as well. After about an hour there was a local power failure. Staff quickly rallied and provided candles for each table and then, unperturbed, carried on serving by torchlight. After the power was restored we ordered food and when it came it was pleasantly presented, more than ample, fairly priced and tasty. The pub is about 100 yards or so from the pier and on the seafront so couldn't really be in a better location but was still cosy and had plenty of available seating. We will definately visit again before we leave.

Visited on a Tuesday night, ordered the Lamb Shank.
The staff were very pleasant and chatty, the TVs in the main bar were muted but you couldn't avoid the sound from the 'Sports Bar'.The food was very average, the Shank tasted too much of mint as did the roast potatoes which were rather soft. The mashed swede was watery but the creamed leeks and roasted carrots were nice.
Home made apple crumble & cream for dessert, nice crumble and lashings of cream but not much apple flavour.

Lauren, who planned our reception, was so helpful from the outset and we found every member of the team there were prepared to help and be flexible with food and logistics.
A really first class service at a time when that's what you need.
I recommend to anyone wishing to hire function facilities, and to anyone using the main bar area. Food, drink and the welcome is exceptional.
