Party of 10 of us celebrating my Wife’s 50th accommodated on an extremely busy night in Eastbourne with their Grand Torchlight Procession in full flow. Great venue with superb choice of good quality food & drink. Jess and all staff we encountered that evening were friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely revisit if back in the area and would highly recommend, faultless. Thank you for making our night memorable 😉

Have had some lovely meals at the crown but this was very poor. Hopefully a one off I must confess to not sending good reviews when food has been excellent. I have therefore scored a three to reflect the usual high standards .
. Over cooked steak served on a roof tile , the sauce came in a jug which you cannot pour unless you want it in your lap .. Ps no steak knife supplied for tough old steak which went home for the dog to excercise his jaws .Step Up C&A

The staff are so friendly and brilliant at their jobs especially Kate, they make this the best pub in Sussex.

I searched for a pub to watch the cricket on Sky with some difficulty but this was just along from our hotel. It has about 5 screens in different areas of the pub and was fine for that.

Pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff and the lunches were very good. We had mixed meals from the menu and the Sunday Roast all of which were well presented and tasty.

We would plan to go back next time in Eastbourne.

Have been and had another excellent meal with a friend. Cannot fault the food or the staff. Location easy to get too as near bus routes on main road and seafront. Good atmosphere and nice to be able to go somewhere where you do not have to shout at one another to be heard. Will be back again as still more on menu that has to be tried! My Beetroot meal today has given me ideas as this is just not something to be had cold in a salad.

Popped in just for a beer but ended up back for a meal. Beers included Olde Trip, Speckled Hen, Festival Ale, Surf Pale Ale from the USA & Aspells Suffolk Cider. Not personally in to veggie stuff but 10 / 10 for not just a good menu of stables, but for a comprehensive veggie and vegan menu too.
Had a Lamb Shank each, lovely and a chocolate & coconut torte that was ok but a bit lacking on the coconut flavour. Great pub, great ale, Sky / BT sports and very good food at a reasonable price.

I arrived in Eastbourne for a Ladies Festival on Friday afternoon and met up with the gang - but not the wife, who was running late - and what were we to do to kill a few hours before the festival began? PUB!
We wandered along the front for about ten minutes before finding this place - a few of our number were, of course, hungry but the rest of us just wanted a beer. The pub had a couple of guest ales on and we got stuck into the Festival ale (why not?) while the menu was studied in great detail.
Eventually, a couple of burgers and chips were ordered and quickly consumed along with more ale and a couple of bottles of wine! All in all, a lovely afternoon spent in the sun with friends. Recommended.

Best pub in Eastbourne. Although we didn't eat, the Sunday roast looked and smelled amazing. Very comfortable and clean. Shame we didn't stumble upon it at the beginning of our short break.

Popped in here on Thursday, got our drinks and started to look at the menu. Wow couldn't make my mind up what I wanted, so much that I liked. Lamb shank for me and burger for husband. Lamb shank sooo nice and lots of vegetables, stuffed. Glad we popped in. We were staying at the Langham hotel down the road, we stayed for two night and chose this pub to eat in the last evening, so glad we did. Great people run it to. Nothing is too much trouble for them.

My husband and I have eaten here a couple of times and the food is top notch. Most recently I had the lamb shank in ale gravy. It was delicious. The roast potatoes were fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside, carrots and broccoli were fresh and cooked perfectly and the gravy was divined. The lamb was tender and not too fatty. All complemented with a lovely glass of Malbec. My husband had the ribs and he said they were pretty good too. Will definitely be dining here again.

This pub was recommended to us for its food by the owners of a b&b we stayed in. We ate there twice and everything we had was fresh and delicious. I couldn't recommend their burgers enough, they are a good honest lump of ground beef perfectly seasoned and thrown on a grill, no fuss, no mess, no yuck, pure good quality meat. My other dinner was a beautiful grilled fillet of salmon with balsamic glaze and it was melt in your mouth yumminess. My other half had a lasagne which he was raving about for the rest of the day and spare ribs that were so well cooked that they were falling of the bones and the portion was huge. Other people were also praising the fish and chips and lamb. Always check the specials board, there are some real gems hiding there. Dinner and drinks for two set us back about £40 which I found very reasonable for great quality food that we got. Oh and a little touch which I found sweet- they don't use any single packets of salt, pepper, ketchup, disposable cups, cutlery etc., even the straws are paper, probably because they are so close to the sea. Thumbs up for being thoughtful!! We will definitely return when we are back in Eastbourne.

Used as a unit base for a film we are doing delightful staff and food seafront prices but near pier and beach. Gets busy but outside seating and old world: worth a visit.

Years ago you could actually see the sea from the out-door tables but not since the modern sea defence wall was built. But it’s still “al fresco” in spite of being perched at what has become a busy road junction. (These days you can only see the sea from the balcony of the Function Room upstairs.)
I’ve been a fan of Greene King traditional pubs for decades but although this is supposedly one of theirs it didn’t show up on their website.
It has the prestigious Cask Marque status for it’s guest cask beers but other beers are a bit of an eclectic collection. Sadly, the classic Greene King beers were missing.
Apparently it was the “Eastbourne Herald Pub of the Year” in 2016. This is probably because a lot had been spent on refurbishing it for a more youthful market. It is marketed as being “one of Eastbourne’s most exciting, up and coming pubs”, but this relies heavily on the TV, live music three nights per week, pool etc. It purports to have “something for everyone”, and, whilst this might be so for groups of young regulars, it doesn’t augur well for couples or the passing trade. It probably does well out of the late teens on holiday who would rather not be in Eastbourne anyway.
The lunch menu is mostly burgers with some mains from Cod & Chips to baked potatoes with assorted fillings, a couple of “sharing platters” and various vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes.
We had a Chilli Con Carne on a bed of rice, which came with a small decorative mixed salad and a couple of slices of garlic bread, and a Macaroni Cheese, that came with a larger portion of the mixed salad. Both these dishes were sensible portions of nice food, with the salads particularly nice. We didn’t try any of the desserts.

Really impressed with this pub! We were visiting Eastbourne and found this on TripAdvisor. We were a party of 6 - youngest 4, oldest 73yrs. We had the lamb shank and boy, it was certainly delicious- a large portion which I shared with my 4 yr old and he couldn't get enough of it! My younger son had the BBQ chicken which he finished off quite happily. Even the sweet potato chips went down a right treat! What really impressed us was that alongside their main menu, they had a really decent Gluten Free menu readily available with a varied selection of desserts. Staff were attentive and friendly and kept checking up on us. Good service and lovely food!
